hello everyone ,

hope it all goes well for everyone, i've been vaping since this summer and after a couple of weeks i jumped in the DIY part of eliquid !
in the beginning it was all perfect, had the TH i wanted to, the flavour was perfect and solid... until 2 weeks ago where my liquids became too harsh on the last 2 batches i made...

i'm using 3 russian RTAs with 1.2 -> 1.8 ohm coils and organic cotton, all my flavorings are from AtmosLab on a Hana Modz DNA30 clone @ 10->13 watts. nic level is @ 6% ....

i didnt change anything on my setup , or the way i prepare my ejuices. i allways let sweet / chocolatey flavors steep longer in a cupboard (10days min) than the fruity ones (5 days min) bottles are throughly washed each time , i use 90VG/10PG with no Water in it , and flavourings allways follow manufacturers recommended quantities in eliquid.

i tried 0nic eliquid , to check if my nic has gone bad , but there still is a slight "scratchy" feeling to my ejuice ... sometimes it feels like im inhaling acid ....
tried pure vg mix and didnt notice any change !
tried another bottle of flavoring.... same !

any suggestions ? why did it all start of a sudden... i cant enjoy my vapes anymore :(

oh and btw . the same flavorings compared to other RTAs my friends own. same flavoring , same nic level , a bunch different taste.... theirs is more like the original smell of the flavoring.

yes i did, forgot to mention that. i change the wick every 4-5 tanks max due to VG ganking up the cotton... coils are changed whenever they need to ;)

no hotspots on the coils , and they all are Kanthal 28 gauge .
RTAs are thoroughly cleaned each sunday !

now that you mention the RTAs , is it possible that they just... died on me ? i just tried a protank i have sitting here and , i got to say its better....

I'm betting it's your wick.

Too much and it swells bigger than the outside diameter of the coil where it enters the coil which chokes the flow of juice.

Too little and you can have part of the coil with no contact with wick and juice. Loss of cooling from the juice makes for a too hot coil.

Both can cause a harsh vape.

Also, and I'm no Russian expert, but I believe I've read that getting the tails on your wick "just right" is also critical to effective wicking.

thank you for your help , i've found out what happened. unfortunately my nic had a problem with the batch my provider received, i phoned him and he told me to take it back to him in order to replace it with a new batch he received.

what he said was that many of his clients who bought from that batch returned the same problems , apparently my throat was irritated from that and resulted in getting the same discomfort when pure vg 0nic was used...

i washed my RTAs , recoiled , rewicked and everything is smooth again ....

i never thought a nicotine VG would turn bad before it gets sold !!!
