I was using Hangsen mint tobacco as my ADV, I really liked the flavor I hadn't noticed if I was burning through heads (vivi nova) at the time, but it became especially obvious when I tried a new tank (nova-x or something like that), great flavor and clouds but couldn't make it through two tanks without the heads being completely gunked to death- burn-off's and soaking did little good and the vape became rancid quickly. The nova-x heads were just far less tolerant of gunking and I've move off them since then..

So I was testing some flavor west flavors and noticed that my longevity on my atomizer/carto (vivi novas metal tanks) last a lot longer.. I never thought about it and just wanted to confirm if it's really in my head, or do the flavors contribute to gunk levels, and then I wonder further wtf are they putting into these flavor concentrates that I should be concerned about?

I've always used pg/vg from Wizard labs, so that part is consistent through my process. I haven't used any additives such as koolada or menthol crystals that would change the dynamics.

Thoughts?

Definitely yes. Just vape a tank with a new coil and without flavor and find snow white wicks and no gunk on the coil afterwards (sensible power etc. adjustments presupposed).

Less flavor, less gunk.

PS
as to the level of concern about flavours - a very individual business, but the topic itself is hot.

Sweeter vapes will clog coils. It's just the nature of the sweeter flavors. As far as health concerns as long as there not made with flavors that are made with DIACETYL or the like notes there are none as far as I know but as I said they are atty killers. I've gone to RBA's which are more tolerant and far cheaper to rebuild then having to replace premade coils.

If its a commercial storebought juice then its prone to have a lot of added unnecessary sweetener. I vape a DIY Hangsen tobaccos with some TA added. My last build lasted almost 3 weeks at minimum 2 kayfun fills per day. pulled the rayon out to have a look and it wasn't gunked or burnt nor was the coil, it was just pooped out. Using the same Hangsen/TA blend I added some creame-du-menthe and got a incredible minty(not menthol) vape and its been almost a week now and my coil still hitting strong.
I pretty well have to shelve all my commercial juices since some of them are sickly sweet and I can't vape them. My wife vapes a cotton candy I make for her that I consider too sweet (4.5% desert ship, 1% cotton candy in a 50/50 6mg base) and she gets over a week in her 1.5ohm hemp fiber protank builds but when I get her spent coil its encrusted with the black cocoon and can't be cleaned so instead of trying to clean I just toss the build then rebuild.
Once you darken (caramelized) your juice in the atty then add more new juice to the dark juice what happens is your contaminating the juice and the entire atty will darken and begin to taste off in no time. Bite the bullet and toss the mil or so of old juice before refilling. I haven't used a top coil atty in eons, I vaped protanks and now kayfuns but the good ol' CE4 atty was my learning atty when I first got our ego kits, began to get questionable vapes and began to wonder why. Those were the last factory heads I used and that was well over 2 years ago.
