DIY FLAVORSHACK
SWEET RY4

12mg, unknown, Inferno (ego), LR atty, fresh out da envelope

Color-brown very dark

Vapor-good

Throat hit- good

Subtle, medium flavored, or strong flavored- medium

Non sweet, slightly sweet, sweet, very sweet - lightly sweet

Is it clean? (Is it free of any, perfumy, soapy or chemical like notes?)- yes

OVERALL RATING (Bad, ok, good, great)- good

MY EXPERIENCE & OPINION YMMV

Similar in profile to the caramel vanilla ry4 from DIY flavorshack, but better. It is smoother, and more evenly balanced. The tobacco is less potent in this one vs. the other. It is sweeter, but not exactly sweet. Pretty soon she's gonna have a category for every ry4 palette lol

The name to me suggests a caramel/ vanilla/ tobacco candylike/dessertlike flavor. If that is what it sounds like to you it is not. It is on the desserty side with the amount of caramel/ vanilla present especially on the inhale but not sweet like a caramel. Still smokier than desserty. Good gravy I hope that makes sense lol

All in all it is good. Custom yes. Traditional no. As for the name, pump in more sweetener. Im reviewing it as is, butttttt Dawn did throw in some sweetener cuz she's a real sweetheart. That will bring this juice up a couple notches for sure when I add it. Regardless she will do whatever it takes to get you exactly what you want and make you a happy camper, err happy vaper.

Next time I'll just ask her to dip her finger in it....then probably gripe because it's too sweet lol

dog,

Your review sparked me to get out the two bottles I have of Dawn's DIYFlavorshack RY4s---regular RY4 and her kicked-up Caramel-Vanilla RY4---that I reviewed back in January, 2012, for The Big RY4 Roundup thread (posts #1073 and #1074). At the time, I wasn't favorably impressed with either juice. They were very thin for 50/50 PG/VG (seemingly thinner even than straight PG), extremely dark in color (not generally a good sign in RY4s), and disconcertingly flat in flavor. In addition---although I didn't note it at the time---both juices were not sweet at all.

It didn't occur to me until reading your review above that the lack of sweetness might be a factor in my less-than-wonderful reaction. I squeezed 3mls of each into separate bottles and added some sweetener (Sucralose). Not much---I didn't want to inadvertently make them cloyingly sweet, which is all too easy to do with DIY modifications. I know that some people don't like Sucralose, but I didn't want to add honey or a similar natural sweetener that might alter the flavor.

The before-and-after differences were noteworthy. No, neither juice was magically transformed into the best RY4 ever, but they were both improved by a little sweetening. I went from a "so what?" reaction to judging them as a pleasant vaping experience. They're still a little flat for my tastes, but clearly better.

I don't think of myself as a sweet freak with eliquids, but---as with cooking, where a bit of salt brings out the flavor of the food---this goes to show that a tad of sweetener can work wonders with some nicquids.

Note: Later I added some TPA Peanut Butter and Vanilla swirl flavorings to my modified version of Caramel-Vanilla RY4. The Peanut Butter added a very nice nutty element (picking up the juice some from its previous flatness), and the Vanilla Swirl helped to balance the caramel and vanilla, which had been a bit caramel-heavy before.

No offense meant to Dawn, but I much prefer my altered version to the original. But, of course, that's one of the basic truths of eliquids: As end users, we're blending only for our own palates, whereas vendors necessarily must try to please many different taste preferences.

I don't think of myself as a sweet freak either but generally I do believe that a juice should match its food/drink counterpart equally in strength and sweetness.

When an ry4 has a fair amount of caramel vanilla I think it tricks my brain into desiring more sweetness because a rich caramel or vanilla is normally sweet, otherwise its just an air freshener to me lol

If however a juice is described as more of a straight tobacco that's fine because you know what your getting. This juice is fine though, not really what I would call sweet, its very dark which may or may not bother some, with a fair amount of tobacco flavor for those who like that.
