diy fruit extract (removing sugar)

Hey there, so I'm new to diy e-liquids but I really would love to attempt extractions from fruits but I'm worried about the sugar. I can't find a solid method on removing the excess sugars...I read a couple guesses though, one being distillation, but I feel distillation would severely alter the taste from the boiling, but if it's my only option I'll attempt it. What sort of distillation machine would I need...would an alcohol distillation unit work? Does anyone know how this is actually done?
