With all of the great and vast information here, along with a significant number of creative and focused individuals, I have to wonder if any of our members has or is working on a true DIY Guidebook (in a PDF or similar format).

I imagine one chapter dedicated to starting up....essential tools/supplies, ingredient descriptions, vendor breakout (with notes to quality and cost), etc.

A chapter regarding mixing, VG/PG breakout, nic base info and vendors....

Another chapter dedicated to flavoring factors to consider...what's safe, what isn't safe for vaping, flavoring considerations, etc.

Another for flavor vendors, the flavorings they carry, flavor descriptions, and recommended % for use, etc.

Another chapter compiling the wonderful DIY recipes we have throughout the forum.

And, of course, a acknowledgement/reference/resource section to give credit for all who contributed (recipe contribution can be provided along with the recipe) to the guidebook, any pertinent references, and a list of websites (vendors, research, etc.).

If I had the time (and skill), this would certainly be something I would consider taking on...but it's just not possible for me at this time. I offer this suggestion as I know most of us are very busy but there are some who have the technological savvy to not just decrease the amount of time it would take to create this document, but also possess the expert knowledge as to where to find it all.

If something currently exists, please share here! :)

I know this is not what you are asking for specifically, but it's a starting point. There is a blog here by Hoosier that is a great beginning reference for DIY:

E-Cigarette Forum - Hoosier - Blogs

Then you can get a decent amount of knowledge by reading all of the sticky note threads in the DIY forum (the threads at the top of the DIY forum with the yellow sticky note to the left of the thread title).

Also, there is a DIY group you can join that may offer more insight/help:

Thank you, flowerpots! There IS a huge amount of information within the various thread n' stickies. That's what got me thinking about one "book" containing everything in one location. The nature of bulletins boards is fantastic in that it allows one topic to be discussed in one location....but it can sometimes be difficult to find the source if you want to go back and revisit (even if subscribed) due to the huge population and wealth of information here.

It was just an idea to assist individuals wishing to start up DIY or even as a resource to those who are fairly new to it. :)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I am just starting it myself and have been reading for a good 3 weeks on the subject to prepare. I have found the best way to go about this is to start a .pdf of my own and save info on it as I go. It's not complete by any means, but it contains the info I will most likely need to refer to later without having to search subscribed threads for the one sentence that will help me.

I know they are at Amazon. But I really don't think that your going to learn anything you can't learn here by reading a few key threads. Once you get past the "what supplies do I absolutely have to have" aspect it all gets pretty subjective. Some people love the flavor apprentice flavors. Others not so much. Not long ago no one was talking about Hangsen flavors but right now they are really popular. Flavor west seems to often be dismissed as "too weak" but rumor is that it is what MBV uses and I've seen hundreds of rave reviews of their e-liquid and the current line on total percentage in DIY mixes is 12.5 percent which really is no higher than some TFA flavors. I suspect that the big boom of DIY providers happened after those books were written so I don't hold much hope they will really help you with that either.

EXACTLY what I was thinking! I have pages upon pages of notes....bookmarked web pages n' blogs...countless subscriptions to threads....it's gotten to where I can no longer find what I am looking for amidst it all. I'm one that tabs and highlights physical reference books and it's hard not having a tab method here.

I've found several like-minded folks within ECF and thought that there's likely something already in existence. :)

It probably is in existence. I hope someone will post here with their complete guide - someone more organized than myself lol

It doesn't sound quite as promising in the content then...besides, like you said, DIY has grown so much as have the variety and vendors. Hmmm....there must be SOMEthing that could help with organizing all this information a little better. Any ideas? :?:

It may have to be a collaborative effort if nothing else turns up. A process f seeking out those experts to compile information for each chapter, maybe?

OR....I wonder if there is a program or app designed for organizing notes (complete with tabs, of course :))?

Hey Hillbillie ;)

My first thought in regards to this question is *wait for it* Google Docs (and you know how much I loathe Google Docs :D)

Using their word processing program, you can make different tabs for your different topics. The tabs will show along the bottom instead of the top (as far as I know). Or use Microsoft word if you have it. Aside from a word processing program, I'm unaware of any apps (though I've never been a huge app person).

Hi Keela!

As much as I've "visited" GoogleDocs (well, at least the same page you frequent) I've never explored it. I shall do so, thank you!

Since my last post, I've also looked at the MS OneNote app...doesn't seem very clear on how to use it though.

Hope it helps. I honestly never really thought about transferring all my chicken scratch over to word, but I just may have to now. It's gets frustrating sifting through pages and pages of notes that run all over the gambit

I could never wrap my head around OneNote either. Word is just too easy :D
