Thanks everyone for assistance/encouragement, just mixed up some banana cream/french vanilla, now I need to tone down french vanilla, flavor is strong at 10%, no chemical or dish soap taste, making progress.

It's like that at first, when you don't yet know the relative strengths of the different flavors you use; once you do get a feel for those relative strengths, and arrive at a "stable" of preferred flavors, you'll find it much easier to put together new recipes, without so much "pinch more of this, dab less of that" trial and error -- you'll know the approx best percentage to use of those flavors you use again and again, like the creams, vanillas, and sweetener.

Hi Andria, thanks for feedback, yeah surprised me how one flavor is weak, another is strong. I have ten fruit flavors, koolada, cream, sweetener, heading my way to experiment with. French vanilla from WL is surprisingly good, toning down to 7%.

Any favorite flavors/recipes to share ?

Hi Danny, read all your info pertaining to DIY, thanks for all you shared. So true. Think first mistake I'm making is trying to clone store banana mix. Exactly, I do over think everything, Lol !!! One step at a time. Slowly building up my flavor collection. I have noticed my body rejects minty/menthol flavors, although I've smoked menthols for years. My body has also reject nicotine, very strange 2 months ago, began at 24mg, now I'm vape 3mg - 6mg,. Anything higher then 6mg, I get dizzy.
I had the same reaction on the nicotine from vaping. 6 months vaping and seem to have stabilized at 5mg nic. Any less and I get to wanting a cig but 5 seems to hold it. I do have some tobacco with 12mg which I only vape to kill cig urges, but not for long or I get a headache.

This is the one I mentioned that has nearly 30% flavoring -- and it's actually been toned down a bit; it was just over 30% originally, now at 28.8% -- but this flavor smacks you in the face! :D It's also diketone-free, if you care at all about that, but still has plenty of creamy custardy goodness:

Inawera Shisha Strawberry 15.5%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream 5.5%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 4.2%
CAP Sweet Cream 1.8%
TFA Sweetener 1.8%

I use this calculator -- to me it's much easier to use than any of the others; it also provides the ability to specify a nic level for *each individual ingredient*, so it can be used to combine premade juices and arrive at a custom nic level and PG/VG ratio for a custom blend -- that was how I started with DIY! :)

Hi Robert, thanks for sharing. Good news for me is, I have no nicotine or cig craving at all. I luv to vape. I was suprised how fast my nicotine levels decreased in a few weeks. Since diy I've vaped 0 nic a few times, with no problems.

Hi Andria, thanks for sharing. Recipe sounds delicious, will have to give it a try next week. All I'll need to pick up is Shisa strawberry. Well, I have Lorann strawberry on the way, will try with Lorann brand, prior to Shisa order. Cool, thanks for sharing calculator/cost link.

I've heard from others that the recipe I posted is good with other strawberry flavors, too. With the Lorann, maybe try it at 10% first, they're pretty strong -- however, one of the "tips" I picked up in the TFA thread is to balance the primary flavor with approx the same percentage of the supporting flavors -- in mine, the strawberry comes in just a bit heavier than the other flavors (15.5 vs. 13.3) but it's pretty close -- so maybe try the Lorann strawberry at about 12%...?

The Lorann Cherry is also pretty good; more a maraschino flavor than "real" cherry. My only problem with Lorann flavors is that they use artificial color, totally unnecessary in ejuice; I dunno if the colors add any degree of risk, but it's possible, so why add it?

Any recommendation on sweetners ?

I also recommend sucarlose from TFA just be careful with it. A little goes a long way. Start at .05% (That's point 5 or half a percent) Don't go above 1.5% or you'll burn up and clog your coils. Sweeteners are great additives but play hell on your coils.

Thanks Andria. I just ordered sweet cream/sucralose sweetener, ordering TFA sweetener and picking up some liquid stevia sweetener locally.

Careful with the stevia. Make sure it's pure stevia and not the supermarket powdered stuff. Those have unwanted additives. I hear say that GNC carries the pure stuff.

Hi Andria, awesome news. I luv fruits and fruity flavors, specially banana/strawberry. I tried all different juice samples at local stores, sadly didn't like majority of them, wintergreen was very good, but gave me bad chest pains (reflux), actually anything menthol flavor, which is funny cause I smoked menthols for 38 yrs.

Thanks for the tip on Lorann flavoring, I used the color chart provided by Mistress, to place my order. Banana and strawberry do have artificial coloring, but both flavors recieved high reviews. My goal is to try different flavor companies each week. Next week, it's Capella.

Thanks for the mixing tip. What's your opinion on Capella flavoring ? Noticed you use TFA alot. Any favorites ?

Hi Danny, thanks for info/tip, I ordered liquid sucarlose sweetener from Ecig, is that ok ? I can order TFA brand in the future.

The TFA Vanilla Swirl is *outstanding*! Though nobody really knows for sure yet if diketones are a hazard or not, I have asthma, so I prefer to avoid any flavors with diketones (diacetyl, acetoin, acetyl propionyl) -- the Vanilla Swirl is basically TFA's Vanilla Custard with the diketones removed. I first tried Capella's Vanilla Custard v2 (diketone-free), but it's terrible, very artificial tasting; so I tried the TFA Vanilla Swirl and hit paydirt! It's terrific!

TFA's Bavarian Cream DX (diketone-free) is also pretty good; maybe not great as a stand-alone, but as one of the supporting flavors for fruits, it's awesome! Use no more than about 6%, with other creams (like the Vanilla Swirl, as in my recipe), and it's really a good background flavor.

And of course the TFA Sweetener just can't be beat. I do sometimes go slightly over 2% on my sweetener, though usually stay right around 2%, and it really does cause a lot of wick gunking, but I like sweet, so I just re-wick a lot. :D

Capella can be hit or miss; their Sweet Cream is absolutely GREAT, and has no diketones. Their Vanilla Custard v2 is horrible, though I hear that the original Vanilla Custard (with diketones) is really good. I'm currently trying out their Sweet Strawberry, which seems pleasant, no icky taste to it, but it might be a bit weaker than the Shisha Strawberry (from Inawera) that I'm used to. Capella's Hazelnut v2 is pretty good. Lots of folks recommended their Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble, but to me it just tastes metallic -- I suspect they use the cinnemaldehyde type of cinnamon, rather than the baking type; all the cinnemaldehyde-based cinnamons just taste horribly metallic to me -- though I liked them, when I first started; I suppose it's the emergence of my tastebuds from their smoke-induced coma that's responsible for the changes in my tastes.

That one from ECX is the one I tried, other than TFA's, and I just couldn't stand it; just horribly artificial, more like saccharine or nutrasweet than sucralose. If you get a weird "whang" from any juices that you used that ECX sweetener in, it's the sweetener.

Yep GNC has the good stuff. Been using it for 6 months now just running out of my first 2oz bottle. Does not seem to treat my coils too bad or change the flavor and I like my DIY sweet. Except for the tobacco.

Hi Robert, just called local GNC they have liquid stevia, same price as online. Only comes in one size though, picking up friday, GNC closing for the evening. I actually prefer Stevia over other sweeteners, I've used powder Stevia in ice tea, works really good.

Hi Andria, thanks for the tip, I dislike nutrasweet, picking up liquid stevia, till I can get some tfa sweetener next week. I'm building up a nice collection of flavors/sweeteners. Got everything in my notepad for next weeks order.

Hi Andria, thanks for all your feedback/help, I read to stay away from diketones, so I'm with ya. Will order TFA flavors next week, instead of Capella. Here's Lorann flavors I have on the way, Bavarian cream (vanilla), Strawberry, Banana cream, Pina colada, apple and Cappella sweet cream.

I like ordering from Wizard labs, but shipping takes forever for some reason, not the fault of WL company, postal service is very slow from Fl to Tx. Also WL is alway's out of stock on popular brand flavors.

Oh man, ECX has Shisha strawberry but no TFA, WL vice versa. Now, I need to figure all this out for next week order. Oh bummer, I love cinnamon.

I noticed for awhile, I couldn't taste any flavors, no matter how strong stores made juice, menthol flavors work'd really well during that phase, but had to take Zantac, specially vaping wintergreen. Now my tastebuds are back in action. I love french vanilla mixed with banana.

Have you tried any other flavors aside from fruits, was thinkin of soda & desert flavors, for the future.

I need to learn how to re-wick. T3S is simple, but Protank 3 (bdc), I have no idea.

Pure liquid stevia from GNC, actually quite expensive. Will stick with sucralose for now.

$12 for 2 oz and lasts me 6 months. I like sweet. I consider that a good deal.
