ok ty very much i guess the 65 35 will be close enough for now. lol next time i will order all vg and get pg as you say. i wish i would have asked before buying but guess you learn as you go lol.
PG/VG ratios still mess with me when I mix; I work out everything in my own way and then plug it into my e-liquid calculator to confirm my crazy method of figuring it. If my math is right it will work in the e-liquid calculator the first time.
I agree with Shilo and here is why.
See if my nutty way of figuring this makes sense to you (and hopefully doesn't confuse the heck out of you): target: 24mg 70PG/30VG with nic base 48mg 50PG/50VG not possible!
Here is my logic (and nutty figuring) on why I say it's not possible.
I'll use a 5ml batch (or bottle) as an example
For 24mg nic level -using 48mg nic- you have to add
2.5 ml of your nic base which includes 1.25 ml of PG and 1.25 ml of VG.
That leaves
2.5 ml of space in a 5 ml bottle.
To hit 30PG you have to add a
TOTAL of 1.5ml PG. That's 5ml bottle X .30 = 1.5mg ml of PG but since you've got 1.25ml of PG in your base it would be 1.5mg/ml-1.25mg/ml=
.25 TOTAL of PG you need to add.
Same goes for the VG to hit 70 VG you'd have to add a
TOTAL of 3.5ml of VG. That's a 5ml bottle X .70 =3.5ml of VG but since you've got 1.25ml of VG in your base it would be 3.5mg/ml-1.25 mg/ml =
2.25 ml
TOTAL of VG needed to add.
.25 ml of PG +
2.25 ml of VG +
2.5 ml of base =5ml.
Soooo....
Since flavoring are usually additional PG you'd only have enough room for
.25 ml extra of PG which is only 5 drops of flavoring!
That means the maximum percentage of flavoring you could add would be 5%.
I'd suggest you are correct that next time buy base nic in either all PG or all VG. You say you've got some more VG but like Shilo says,
"...keep a small bottle of PG on hand." I say maybe even a medium or large bottle of PG.
I hope this makes sense. Just trying to show you
why it isn't possible. I always check my math carefully before I mix, double check each recipe, and then plug it into an e-juice calculator to confirm. If the calculator doesn't confirm I've made a math error and must
adjust my recipe. This keeps me from mixing incorrectly (and wasting supplies) and keeps me focused when I finally do mix.
Really; my intent here is to help you avoid mistakes I've made.
