A beginner road map should fit into one paragraph. ...

That sounds Great in Theory. But I'm not sure in Practice it could be Done. Explaining DIY to someone might take a Little More than a paragraph.

But go ahead and Post your Paragraph. I would love to see it.

I've probably done it already in some previous post on the same topic but I'll do it again--soon. In three hours I'm in bed so i can rise at 3:50 am and won't get home until 45 minutes before bed time tomorrow. That will go on for 4 days. Next friday I'll write a paragraph.

Some nic, vg and pg, a little flavoring, some syringes and bottles, and bam, you've got it. It's simple, cheaper, and just overall better to DIY. I just started a few days ago, and so far, I'm glad I did, and like zoid said, everyone here has been extremely helpful. But even if you're sitting on the fence about, go ahead and get a liter of nic, and throw it in the freezer, just in case. But even if the current government administration decides to give vapers their rights and freedom, and pre-made juice gets cheap and easy to buy, I think I'm still going to DIY my own juice, for 2 reasons: 1. I know what's going into my juice, and I can control how it tastes, and 2. (nerd alert!) I like RPG games, and like magic users, and mixing my own juice makes me feel like a wizard mixing potions. :p

Get a sample bottle of nicotine from Nude Nicotine, I'd suggest getting the 100 mg/ml strength.
Get a small bottle of PG and VG
Get a flavoring sample size of two single flavors you think you'd like.
Get a clean bottle to hold/dispense the juice (<=50 ml).
Get a 5 cc syringe and blunt needle for it.
Get a juice calculator, either online, for your phone, for your computer.
Run the calculator and put in the amount you wish to make (<= 30ml), nicotine strength, and the percentage PG and VG you want the juice to be. Pick a flavoring percentage, I'd suggest 5% for all but tobacco, I don't do tobacco and don't know how much to use. You can go to e-liquid-recipes dot com and search for the flavor and use the average as a starting point.
When all has arrived, get a clean area with good lighting. Be careful. Don't throw nicotine around.
Shake all the nicotine and flavoring bottles.
Open the nicotine, draw what your calculator said for an amount and squirt it into the dispensing bottle (DB).
    Close the nicotine bottle.
Get the PG and measure that into the DB.
Close that, get the VG, measure into the DB.
Close that, get one of the flavorings, measure into the DB.
Close that, cap the DB, shake it 30 seconds or so. By 'or so' I mean at least.
    Wait about a day.
    Vape it.

Too much flavor? Change it next mix or reduce it a bit with VG.
Too little? Add a couple of drops of flavor until you like it.

Got a good juice, you can vape it and kind of like it? Congratulations! Now come back and ask how to expand your abilities, recipes, technique. Got a bad one? Come back and tell us how it is bad. Unlikely it will be bad as this is dead simple. I vape mainly 2 flavor mixes and have exactly zero that need steeping or any special handling.

Ok, I'm all in !!! :thumb:

I'll be in the states for 2+ months so I better hit the floor running. Sounds like tobaccos maybe a bit more complicated but I'll check a few recipes to maybe pigeonhole a few of the necessary flavors and amounts. The point of this post was some other ingredients besides the basics you know, PG VG SWEETENERS NIC and flavors. So any tobacco DIYers consider them necessary to start with ?

No offense, but you just wrote a paragraph explaining why you can't write a paragraph.

Really, I think the easiest way is to not let the wealth of information available here scare you off. Just read enough to know what you need, gather the supplies, and take a stab at it. That's basically what I did.

I got the Liquid Barn starter kit, the LB-501 scale, and a few flavors from BCV. My first attempt was "Viennalope", 5% FA Cantaloupe and 5% FA Vienna Cream. It was really simple and successful, though I now know I used too much flavoring. I still vape that original recipe, lowered to 3%.

Maybe I was lucky I made something vapable on my first attempt. A lot of people here insist it's best to pick a recipe, buy flavors for it, then follow that recipe. I just picked what sounded good to me and went freestyle, but I can see how starting with a recipe could make the process more linear (easier).

Personally, I found this vid more useful than reading this forum, which is not to say the info here sucks. It is in fact an invaluable resource!

Honestly, the hardest part for me was learning how to use the calculator. I started out with HotRods Juice Calculator, which is not exactly the most straightforward calculator to use, but I'm glad I invested the effort into learning how to use it. I think it's given me a greater understanding of how to create a recipe. It's the only calc I've ever used, and I'd be lost without it.
