People in this day in age tend to have a skeptical view on their fellow human beings. Everything now-a-days seems to come at a price. It's always "What's the Catch?". In a day and age where people are continuously defrauded, cheated, and lied to, they seem to lose faith in general human kindness.

I love doing something for others with no strings attached because it makes me feel like I'm taking a small dent out of that skepticism. With every good non-reciprocal deed, I bring humanity's good will just a little bit closer to my fellow person.

Performing an act of kindness releases serotonin in your brain. (Serotonin is a substance that has TREMENDOUS health benefits, including making us feel more blissful.) Selflessly helping someone is a super powerful way to feel good inside. What’s even cooler about this kindness kick is that not only will you feel better, but so will people watching the act of kindness. How extraordinary is that? Bystanders will be blessed with a release of serotonin just by watching what’s going on. A side note is that the job of most anti-depressants is to release more serotonin. Move over Pfizer, kindness is kicking ... and taking names.

I could be no other way. My parents instilled in me a sense of honor and philanthropy. I can't help but help.

The good thing is I see this in my son also. He is even more giving than his mother and I.

The feeling you get when you help another is unforgettable. The best is when you see someone who doesn't expect kindness, then you smother them in it. I sometimes wish I had vast fortunes that I could give away. But simple kindnesses are the best.

Hi
ok happy stuff
contest....
Please write why it makes you feel good to be a great person and do something nice for someone else and not expect anything in return

hmmm WHY? I just Don't know why ? Never thought about it,really. I just do what I do .
I do know that when I miss an opportunity to help someone with something, I feel awful .
It does make me feel good to help others, but it has nothing to do with "why" I do things.

I guess the "why" it makes me feel "good", may be connected to the "need" to be "needed"
& the satisfaction that comes from "being useful",which in turn makes me feel good .... :)

still not sure "WHY" tho

Thanks for the "thoughtful" contest !!

Well even tho I don't expect anything in return I get it. Like the look on someones face when you give them exactly what they needed or wanted. Or the knowledge that what you have done or are doing goes above and beyond what many others would/would not do. Or even the feeling in your body when you know the act you just did was completely selfless and genuine. From giving someone the smallest gift to doing something for someone else that changes their life you always get something in return, and those looks, that knowledge, and those feelings can only be achieved through being truly helpful without expecting reciprocation. They are priceless

I'm going to be totally honest here :D I do it to pay for my past sins, seriously LOL As it does feel great to do something for others and the satisfaction of knowing you did good is all but enough is fine BUT knowing that I'm closer and closer to making up for all the bad I've done is the real reason I do it. I'm glad to say though it has become a habit to do good things from holding a door for someone to helping someone broke down on the highway and so on without even a second thought.
As much as I would like to say I do not benefit from it, I can't, because Izzy's got to pay the piper somehow ;) LMAO!!!
