I can bump it up and update or you can file...it is about spot on for laser printing but bigger would not hurt.
a little bit bigger would be handy. but eh I can file it down abit.

balance charger has been soldered up.

that was stressing. solder wouldn't get of the tip to flow on the board. trying to add solder would just make it skip from the board to the tip.

urgh.

Wasn't able to find flux. only welding/torching flux, there WAS a soldering flux which I picked up.

turns out its like flux soldering WATER. :( works for ....

Is there any online diy electronic store in Belgium?

Hello folks.
My wife went to a purse party and it allowed me the justification to purchase an Opus 200. I am never an early adopter. I usually wait for reviews and then if I'm not sure I wait for Phil Busardo and then maybe wait for comments on his review and if I'm feeling really cautious I wait a couple of months to see if the unexpected arises.
Thus this is out of my comfort zone. I have followed the thread since the beginning and from what I have read it seems like Evolv is doing it right and the risk is low. So if I may ask:
If you own an Opus, what do you think so far?
If have built your mod with the board, how do you like it?
Have you used only nickel or have you tried titanium too?
Thanks,
Rick

Here's a couple of videos for soldering. The first one is old but good. The 2nd video is to show how liquid flux is used (cleaning solder off a board)

I left that Flightpower 800mAh 30C off of my DNA200 LiPo Battery Options list when I created it because it's 24A...not quite the recommended amps. But...I don't think people will run into problems with it if they do run it; my preference is for the Hyperion because of its 60C rating.
To be honest, I don't think most of us will ever see 50A drains or even 25A for that matter. At least I'm not.

The hyperion is at my top list but flightpower has a very good reputation. I've never ever managed to puff one and they hold their capacity for quite a lot cycles. My hyperion Batts would get mildly warm while my zippy would inflate into a water melon after 10 cycles or so (same application).
My only two concerns with the hyperion is that it will be a tight fit in the beta box (it's 25.5mm thick) and obviously charging to the correct voltage. Time will tell.

Regards
Tony

I've only used it with Ti so far, but really don't plan on using anything else at this point. I've tried A1 and Ni200 (on rDNA40 & SX350J devices) since making the switch to Ti and the off taste was noticeable, so for me there's no reason to go back to them. As far as the DNA200, I think it's great. The vape it delivers is just perfect after getting it tuned in EScribe. The power delivery is smooth like a DNA40 but similar to Yihi, if you over power the build, it will mute the flavor. After getting it tuned for the Ti builds I'm using, with no fanboyism for either side (I do still love the SX350J), I can say it's the best and smoothest vape I've had coming from the flavor aspect... and I think if you were cloud chasing, it's definitely got the power to do it, no question.

As to the Opus... it's not the most comfortable to hold and the battery life has been less than what I expected. If the wife doesn't want it and I don't try to sell it, once the 6 month warranty is up, I'll probably pull the chip out and put it in another mod with a different battery.

interesting videos.

so technically with flux cored solder. do you even need to pre-apply flux?

so far my solder points on the balance charger seems pretty okay. they aren't dull and have a shine to it.

it was just so stressing haha. and honestly I am more scared about the tip of my solder iron. it kinda looks urgh already

I like the extra capacity of the Hyperion G6 but the better fit for the Flightpower would definitely be attractive if connectors were added to facilitate a battery change. I guess for me and my use I'd want the smaller battery.

True but unless you can charge you extra lipos outside the mod and don't have trouble carrying a naked lipo in your pocket at the airport, it's not very effective.
Don't know... So many choices lol.

I also found a maxamps 3s battery 800mah with a 40C discharge rate (32A) but it's expensive as hell and hard to find in Europe :(

OH I've given up on the idea of carrying an extra battery on weekend trips. My only reason to consider connectors on the battery is that my soldering skills SUCK. If some new whizbang worth buying didn't come along at the end of the battery year my only real chance not to trash things would probably be plug and play bats.

Actually the connectors for my battery are pretty easy to solder. even for me. and I suck horribly at soldering. Well I got them XT60 connectors on mine

Is a temperature controlled soldering iron any use or is it stupid to spend more money when I have a cheapo 30 watts soldering iron

You did mange to fix that output wire so your soldering can't be that bad... ;)

I screwed up a micro USB replacement last week remember? Nobody is perfect [emoji14]

Once a year cleaning and resoldering a new battery doesn't sound bad.

Well, the main leads can be fitted with 2mm gold connectors so that's pretty much a done deal. The balance connectors are trickier UNLESS you solder the male plug to extension wires and manage to find a spot to accommodate the connector. Need to check the space to see if it would fit but in those circumstances, flightpower does sound better...

Thinking about my soldering problems with bigger wires I'm pretty sure my main problem is that I was trying to do it with a tip that wasn't good for heavier work so I wasn't getting enough heat transfer quick enough. If I had the right tip I guess forgetting connectors and going with solder for battery changes wouldn't be so daunting to me. Maybe I just need to figure out what kind of tip would really work best.

Those fine tips work great for smd and similar stuff but for something thicker, a chisel type might be better

I've not done any formal testing but going off strictly usage... I can vape double the amount on the Boxer than I do on the Opus and still have 1/3 batt. life left on the Boxer and the Opus will be at maybe 10-20% batt. life left. Both using Subtank Plus' at 19 -20j or watts, 80vg juice, coils at 0.24/0.25, 2 tanks/day on the boxer and maybe 1 full (90-100%) on the Opus. Only thing clearly different is the temp since the Boxer doesn't have a Ti profile yet - 350 on the Boxer, 480 on the Opus.

Weren't LiPos much more efficient and the YiHi board terribly inefficient?

Hi I did some soldering today battery and 510 connections gave up on the tip and used further down the iron where it hotter works a treat on thicker wires
