The statement I was questioning the accuracy of was quoted from James "Microsoft... stretching the truth... to force developers off SHA-1 certificates."

But yea I'm feeling it, thanks for bumping up my paranoia level. :)

Why not question the accuracy of James' statement and also post your continual demeaning of Evolv where James and Evolv can have the opportunity to respond back to you? They can't post here per ECF rules. Take it to Evolv's forum and be up front with them for a change.

first it was 'bugs' in the firmware, then it was device monitor being inaccurate, now james is under attack . i don't get it. did evolv take his lunch money or sumpin? where's rodney king when you need him. i dunno why i bother chiming in. i know, i'm bored. 'blades of glory' on tv isn't holding my interest as of right now.

I responded to a post on this forum not on another forum. I don't attempt to track down the owner or verify others posts are accurate for them, but instead provide information and links to data that substantiate my posts. Your free to do the same being as it's a quoted post from you that is in question.

The Debates are also getting boring and repetitive. It's been a while since I've done any modding...kinda thinkin' about a DNA200 with double 18650's, 133 watts unless I change my mind....:)
so when configured for 2 cell (dna 200). is the board still able to charge the two batts or do you have to charge them externally?

Yep you can charge the batteries via the board's usb charging circuit. Just configure it properly using EScribe and upload the configuration after building the device and wiring it so it will use two batteries in series instead of three in series.

I read this on another forum concerning battery profiles...

***Out of the box, it didn't have profile for 18650 batteries, so you had to run that long test, or live with incorrect battery indicator.

Circumvent all that nonsense. Just calculate the watt hours of the 18650 cells you're using and plug the number in. Set the soft cell cutoff to 2.8 volts and click on maximum puffs. Done... Battery meter should be accurate enough to indicate a recharge/low battery when each cell has depleted to around. 3.4 volts.***

Is this a legit way of doing it?

It's probably close enough. I'm running Samsung 25R's in my Reuleaux and my DX200 in the 2 x 18650 add-on battery holder. What I did was go to this thread in Evolv's DNA200 Early Adopters Forum, Discharge profiles for WisMec ReuLeaux and downloaded the profile for 25R's. There are different profiles for different batteries in the thread. All that being said, it's best to run the battery analyzer, but I just haven't got around to it.

PS Discharge curves are different for 18650's than they are for Lipos

Cheers,
Steve

Well with the rolo I just set the watt hours and it works perfectly with VTC4s, the curve will vary more between 18650s than the LiPo one does with LiPos, but shouldn't be far out.

I'm in the market for my first DNA200 box, I have the RX200 & was all set to buy the DNA version but I got the dreaded "no atomizer detected" message this weekend so with the known issues about Joytech's weak 510 it might be best to get something else. So, while realizing all the chips are the same I am still wondering what the general consensus is on the best DNA200 mod to get today? Any suggestions from you long term DNA200 users? Anything to avoid? Anything you wish you had today that wasn't available when you bought yours?

Just build your mod. Use a box like the reference unit (protovapor and modcrate are selling them) and the Evolv 510 connector (best I've seen).

15 minutes for assembly and you're done.

There's nobody better to assemble a mod then yourself. At least you know how it's assembled and if something goes wrong you can blame yourself.

I wouldn't have it any other way myself.

As you already know, the chip will be the same, meaning they will all operate the same. The differences are:
1. Aesthetics
2. Build Quality
3. Battery Life

What's the most important thing to you? Aesthetics can't be decided by anyone but you (beauty is in the eye of the beholder). Evolv will cover the chip for 1 year no matter who you buy it from. Depending on where you live, buying it from a local company (same country you reside in) may be advantageous to warranty for other parts of the mod.

PS One other difference is the Vapor Shark is the only one that offers 2 amp charging, all others charge at 1 amp.

Cheers,
Steve

Choose what you like.... lots of different DNA200's out there..... quality vs. price plays a part in your choice. Vendor warranty and accessibility matters also should a warranty or repair be needed. Here is a somewhat dated link showing a lot of choices for your review...

Right now I am really trying to wrap my head around battery specs. Do I go for something small like the new Efusion Mini with a swapable battery or something big like the Panzer with a 1500mAh battery. I am used to smaller slim devices like my Sunboxes but I can't just swap out another 18650 during the day like I typically do with the DNA40 chips I own. Would I actually swap out a 900mAh battery during the day like the Mini? Probably not but it's nice to know that I can. The other requirement for me is that it must have a replaceable battery so if a problem does happen I can replace the battery.

I just want to point out a couple of things. It's 3 batteries wired in series so a 3s 900mah Lipo pack is three 900 mah batteries wired in series (not one 900mah battery). The second thing is you can completely recharge the Vapor Shark in about 45 minutes - 1 hour with the 2 amp charger. I don't have a Vapor Shark so I can't confirm whether the pack is user replaceable but I seem to remember reading it is.

I love the small size of the VS & the 2 amp charging but I've never been able to figure out why the screen is on the bottom? Not that I look at it much but like my Xvostick clone it's a little annoying to have to tilt the mod to make any adjustments. Plus I heard of quite a few problems with the first run of the DNA200 VS, hopefully that's been fixed by now though....

I've had my VS DNA200 for about 5 months now and still love it. I also have a Hana v200 and a couple of home built DNA200 with 1300mah batteries. The battery life of the 1300mah mods are awesome but they're big so they're mostly used at home. I usually grab my VS DNA200 when I go out. With the sharkskin, it's the most comfortable to hold and use. The Hana v200 is slimmer but they will not give you any support if you have issues with your mod so I can't recommend Hana. I had an issue with the fire button on the VS and they fixed it in less than a week. They also paid shipping both ways.

I am by no means an expert on mods, let alone the DNA200. I hesitantly chose to forgo the 18650 batts and went with the Lavabox DNA200 and so far, am really liking it. I like the way it feels and looks and every tank I have fits and looks good on it. While battery life is a bit shorter then I would prefer with subΩ tanks, not sure it would go all day at 50+ watts, the charge is very fast. Battery packs are available should the original falter, but not something one would change regularly. I don't think I would suggest it as your only mod, but with a back-up mod, it works nicely for me.
