OK.... now that the listed test releases have been out a few days and we have had a chance to kick-the-tires a bit.... what do you guys/gals think of the added features?
I've tried most of the new things and will be using some of them frequently.

What feature/features do you like the best?

Love the temp increment, being able to change wire type on the go and wire type in the display most. Temp dominant mode choice is cool with 1 F increments, I don't think I would use it if it was only 10 F increments.

The Temp dominant feature was something I thought I would not use but find it a good tool to set up a new coil. Can easily tweak the temperature for the best flavor then create a profile for it. Created a default temp dominant profile just to use with a new coil to tweak it(with 1 F increments) (neat to be able to change wire types on the fly too). After tweaking it's just a matter of making a new profile for the new coil...

Note: The use of many of the same brand of tanks with different coils can be confusing so a white sticky dot can easily be marked 1,2,3, etc. for the profile and stuck on the tank to identify the proper profile that goes with the tank... at least that works for me...

I didn't think I would use it either, but I like the Temperature Dominate feature. I like being able to change temperature by 1 degree increments as well. Wire type in the display is also a nice touch. Since I've only been using SS430 lately, those are the changes I've experimented with so far.

Cheers,
Steve

I like that I can adjust temp from the main screen and like that you can save wire types in escribe (without having to load a new .csv every time). It would still be nice, though, if the device itself could save these wire types even if they aren't in use by a profile.

I think you can upload wire types now. I uploaded 3 wire types and can choose them within a profile at will. You are always using a profile in TC but can choose from many wires within that profile or from other profiles..

I just checked and on the material screen, there is a tab that lets you load new materials. I haven't used that feature yet, but it is there. I believe once you lock the mod and hold down the fire, +, and - buttons, you can then scroll through the different materials you have loaded on the mod.

Yep.... On the Materials Screen in EScribe any wire shown on the right side (Materials on Device) when uploaded are then available on the device. You can use the + function to add wires or the Custom Materials option to get them from Steam Engine. You can also click on the folder icon to get a wire type you saved on your computer. Many ways to achieve your desires. Make sure to upload your work when done to move the wire info to the device.

Thanks. Did not know this. Makes it much better. Now one of the complaints a lot of people had is no more. ("Oh but I have to log into escribe to do anything.")

Though am an early adopter and a tinkerer...I have not applied the update yet...I will be on the road for five days and generally think I would screw up something.

So far the updates are receiving good reviews and a few things popped up that needed tweaking but they got handled in short order by James. It is refreshing that there are new features that the customers have been asking for. Not many companies are as attentive to the desires of the end users IMO.

Be safe on your road trip..... :)

Usually you have to wait and buy a new device with the new chip with other manufacturers. Although we waited for dna200 I think the available room for updates is huge and really can be made suitable to whatever you desire.

Will wait for an official update (it is still beta right?) just because I have no complaints at the moment :)

Indeed, I NO longer pay for any Mods, (unless they are mechs), that don't have upgradable firmware. While it's no guarantee there will ever be any updates, at least you have HOPE. Evolv and the Evic lineup are good examples, and a bad example is my IPV D2, which is the same hardware as the newer IPV D3, so while my D2 still works, the uogrades most likely could have been done via a firmware update, so no more IPV products for me! VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET!

Now Aal, jump in and update, as you know you can always roll back to the firmware you have now. This is a MAJOR update in the functionality of the DNA200, even if you were not wanting wattage adjustment on the main screen, like me and others.

Yep, I've been kicking the tires on the test update for a few days and all the items I have tried seem to be in order. The only things I haven't done:

(5) for small batteries, in the Mod tab, you can reduce max continuous and pulse battery input currents,
(6) in Help->Language, you can override the language detection,
(8) Device Monitor can run Python scripts for scientific study and automation,

I'm currently in the process of writing an academic article on popular music and the occult and this feature doesn't work. I was expecting the article to write itself when my Reuleaux DNA 200 was connected to my computer. Am I doing something wrong?
