i opened a ticket with evolv. of course i have not heard from them because it is the weekend but that is given. i am confident they will take care of me. they even have a phone contact. that is legit. many of these china manufacturers do not wish to be contacted even 10,000 miles away. odd.

I might have a problem with one of my dna 200 mods. Yesterday it suddently started to read high. First I thought it was the atty connection which I cleaned several times but no change. It actually became worse and worse. From usual 0.32 up to 0.72!

I then tried it on a dna 40 and it was 0.32 spot on. Finally I tried it on my modcrate silo and 0.32!

Today I tried the same atty again on the other ref box and it's reading 0.37. Not as bad as yesterday but still 0.05 off.

Any idea before strip down the mod and remove the board? It has been working flawlessly for like 5-6 months.

Thx

Have you used a mod resistance tool on the offending device to see if the internal resistance has changed. There are many such tools available. Here is but one. Screw the tool into the 510 and run Atomizer Analyzer.

No, don't have that tool but I guess it's time to find one... Maybe something did change in the mod. It's using the board screws for ground (ref unit). Maybe the screws aren't tight anymore. Will open it tonight. Thx.

Take an old carto and solder the positive pin to the housing body creating a dead short & you ought to be able to accomplish the same as that tool for your purposes in a pinch.

That mod is the Silo kit right? Look to the quality of the ground at the board mount screws and the 510 ground at the threads.

That's what I use, seems to do the job quite well.

I'll do that.

No, it's not the silo. It's the original ref unit. The silo is pretty much an exact reproduction so the screws might be still culprit. That mod got its share of abuse in the last months.

Yep, I took a 510 to 510 adapter and filled it with solder... made my own tool so-to-speak... works great...

I'm not being argumentative but if the resistance of the tank is bouncing around between .35 to .7, I don't think it's the internal resistance of the mod you should be concerned with atm. I think it's either a bad ground, bad 510 connection/connector, or the tank/coils. You could always try a different tank to see if it's just that tank but since you tried the tank on another mod and the resistance was stable it probably isn't that.

Cheers,
Steve

Maybe one of the wires going to the 510 connector is making a solid connection, the 510 itself could be going bad. Good luck!
