Dna 30 Conversion to Mass Battery storage!

Hi guys,

I've been on the forum and in the hobby for quiet sometime and am finally looking to do some more DIY work with my dna 30 mod.

I bought a JCMS VAPES dna 30 as my first dna mod early 2014.... after having gone through a few provaris and mech mods, I have decided to finally take the step since the battery on this thing is dying and JCMS no longer is in service.

I stumbled upon the Mike N Tibs thread and am going to convert my hardware from my already assembled mod into a new enclosure to fit a 6000MAH A-spec or If possible 2 of them for a massive 12000MAH!!! That way i'll never have to deal with this charging shenanigans!

After gathering some information one thing is not clear and it's if the current onboard charging is capable of charging the A-spec 6k let alone 2 of them paralleled. Is a balance charge necessary? I have a Imax b6ac that i've already soldered with some micro usb ends for various projects. But am really looking toward a fully capable unit that I can charge anywhere with a standard 1a or 2a phone charger.

Hello and advice would be greatly appreciated. :D

If your connecting is parallel then the charger will work, but you will be charging for hours to get to fully charged. No idea how long it will take but I think you will end up not fully charging the batteries and so doing them damage and not actually having all that benefit anyway. I wouldn't try to add more than about 50% more mAh to the charger so a small increase or buy a better charger too, unless the charging board is charging in very quickly now and you can live wiht the extended time. Remember that charging isn't fully linear so if a 3000 mAh battery takes 2 hours a 6000 mAh battery will take OVER 4 hours to charge, the difference won't be massive but then taking it to 12000 mAh would be 9 hours or even longer.

I've researched on batteries but still do not have confidence in the answers i've researched. I know you can get a 1A charger since the existing board only support 500mah charging. But even then, will low and slow do the trick regardless of charge time? No idea... There is another obstacle of fuses and what not for a safety precaution... I've been searching and searching!! VAPE LIFE i guess

As Norrin mentioned, big batteries give you great vape time, but the tradeoff is really REALLY long charge times. And if you're going to solder the batteries into the mod, you're going to be stuck with the 500mah charger built in to the DNA chip. I've never seen anyone with more than the 6000mah lipo pack and even that one's kind of rare - it's pretty big, and people tend to like their mods small. But it can certainly be done.

Once you get your 5 posts in, check out the modding forum and the battery mods sub. That's where you'll find the people who know the most about these kinds of things on this board.
