Well I'm still vaping the same coil that qorax told me about used KGD I'm on tank #6 still right on .11 vaping great. I hope this is not a fluke because I love it. I wrapped 2 more coils last night 14wraps one 28awg one 29awg tempered. Put them in separate bowls so I would know which one was which now I can't remember which bowl I used for which old age is wonderful.

That's funny Legs. Of course I don't have that problem even is after five minutes I can't remember how many turns I put on the last coil.

I've tried contact coils and just didn't have luck in terms of being able to reproduce it consistently, or getting it to work more than 2 or 3 days. Another member (AMDTrucker) mentioned that after a few days he checked his coil, and found that a couple of wraps had fused together. I've since stayed away from contact coils

Without doubt contact coils require more attention, technique, & care than spaced coils. I now prefer spaced over contact, but I am unwilling to tell people what the 'can't' do, or, what doesn't work.

I'm glad (and relieved) that people can make their own choice without being scolded with, "Brandon said".

Considered starting a new thread, "Brandon said", so the scolder(s) could simply link to it. ;)

I've been experimenting with some different builds, so far the best results I got is 14 wraps on 3mm with 30ga ni200. It seems the higher number of wraps give more consistency and stability to the coil. The ohms are 0.3 as expected and vaping from 22 to 27 Watts depending on juice gives really nice flavour and vapor on my kayfun. Building lower ohm coils with less wraps I was sometimes experiencing inconsistent performance with the Tc, hot spots etc... I found that wicking by twisting hard the cotton to pass it through the coil and then releasing it works very well. The wick is very tight so the juice and airflow cool the coil pretty well. I set TP to 400-420 but I actually get TP only when it's time to refill the tank because the juice on the wick isn't enough anymore. I believe this is a good indication of whether the wicking is done properly or not.

Is that a contact coil?

Are you wicking with rayon or KGD. How long do they last. I just noticed that my coil jumped up to .14 it's been on .11 since the beginning.

I'm wicking with KGD, to compact the coil I set TP to 600 fire a few times, put the drill bit gently back through the coil, and I pinch it, keeps it nice and stable. I repeat once more without the drill bit since the coil cools too much the first time to get it compacted properly. At least with this 2 step process I manage to compact the ni200 pretty well at first and fine tune with the second step

Well my coil went wonky. When I put it on the other night I had a little space in it. I thought I got it back together but apparently not because beyond that it was black. The rest looked great so did the KGD so I put one of the ones I wrapped last night on and wicked it. Showing .12 working great again. This one didn't have any ooopsys in it so we'll see what happens.
