Sounds like Nickel Build, can be 9/8 wraps of 28ga still is gonna be geeting close to .16 to .18, good luck with that the temp control is amazing if you get to use it correctly, enjoy
It's more about wicking and air flow than about ohms. Too thin wire might not be able to handle the current though, and too thick wire/large coil will take long to heat up. I usually build with 28 or 30ga and aim for around 1 ohm (that's with kanthal). Check steam engine for the optimal heat flux for your chosen wattage and wire gauge. There's no point in going for low sub ohms on a regulated device, unless you're using nickel in which case you'll be unable to reach higher ohms.
Nickel Coils are a low build (0.30 - 0.10 ohms). You will see if it is a nickel build on the display as it will show the temperature your mod is set at. If it doesn't show temperature it is either a non nickel coil or the temperature control is turned off.
