I built a dna20 kayfun Altoids tin but have a few questions...
1. When I don't have a usb cable connected the usb charger light is still on. Should it be?

2. When the cable is connected, my 18650 does not charge. Any ideas?

3. Where can I get a battery holder with 20awg already connected? I did re solder the one I am using but it was very painful. What is everyone else using. Remember I don't have much space. I have the kayfun in the tin and just the drip tip sticking out.

4. What should the battery sysbol look like when it is charging?

5. Does anyone else have problems fitting 20awg wire thru the holes on the board? Is there a secret?

If you have the charger wired correctly, it sounds like the charger might be bad. You should have no light when the USB isn't plug in, red light while charging, green light when charged. There is no real indication on the screen that it's charging, other than it will show more bars as it charges.

Good luck finding a battery holder with 20g wire....sorry

Depends on the wire your using, but 20g wire is a snug fit into the pcb sockets. So pre tinning the wire or socket makes it pretty near impossible to get to 20g in the sockets, in my experience. I use 20g fine strand silicone shielded wire (common in RC), a fresh stripped wire and then very slight twist of the strands fits good in the sockets and then soldered.

hi mike
the wire bap is using is the way to go !
what I sometimes do in small holes is before you twist the ends separate about half and clip them off with a nail clipper.
use a magnifier glass to make sure there is no short strands sticking out then tin and solder to the board.
did you check the wiring on your charger board ?
