dna20 screen blank when i hit fire HELP

I am staring to build a dna20 mod and still waiting on a single 18650 case. So I just connected the dna charger, dna20 and 510 atty kayfun Lite. I set the screen to 10 watts but it still says 0 ohms and 0 volts and then when I hit the fire button the screen goes blank and kayfun does not do anything. PLEASE help. Is it because I don't have a battery. I read somewhere else about someone with they same issue and the awnser was to drain the battery but I don't have one???
