However, I wold grab the brass and spend the two minutes to make a piece rather than the headaches of the rest. Wire glue adds resistance and really can't compete with solder. Unless... you have some mechanical connection plans.

From the several times the idea has kicked around SS bodies and brass pins with brass nuts have won out. There's talk, and then no co-op. And here you go and make your own unannounced. We never even had a chance for the talk.

Well it's not prettiest but it should work. I planed on using a nut to secure the connector and the negative, but I'm not going to have room for a nut. So a good crimp is going to have to do.

Finally something that works....even after I sat it a blaze

Dims as it sets now......3.5" Tall, 2.125" Wide, 0.765" Thick.....I have some 0.080" thick lexan that I plan on doing to finish off the front of the real deal, so the final width will be closer 2.25", also thinking of wrapping the box with super thin leather with some baseball-esk stitching on the 2.125" seams.

asdaq, I have a new idea for a solderable stainless connector for you to have made, I just want a couple (hundred) for the design

Right now the connector is made of three pieces - body, insulator, center pin....The body has the 7mmx0.5 pitch threaded all the way through, the insulator is threaded into the body, and the pin pressed through the insulator.

My thought is to add a forth piece that is brass, the insulator would press/epoxy into the new brass piece and both would thread into the ss body and the brass center pin again pressed through the insulator. The new brass piece could have a slot cut into it (or maybe two holes and special tool) so the height could be adjusted inside the body (but thats just getting fancy). Anyway.....the center pin has hole in the end to solder and the new brass piece would also have a hole to solder to.

I might make one with an aluminum body to try it.

I've been playing around awhile ago and have Brass and SS rods w/ a 7mmx0.5 tap. SS is hard stuff. Couldn't afford those expensive hard taps though for SS. I think it's made of High Vanadium. One guy quoted me a price of $140.00

A while back I bought a cheap tap and die set off amazon, It came with a plug and bottoming tap and a die. I just used the cheapy tap and a generous amount of cutting fluid and worked just fine, but it probably won't last forever.

It would be like this except with a brass center pin, and a shorter insulator that is pressed on/into the new brass piece which is threaded into the body. Think of the new brass piece as doughnut that you stuck your finger through creating another hole, now you have a solder location for the negative.

I forgot to show my buttons....I picked up some tac switches from radio shack and recessed them in kydex plate and turned some buttons....the plate will get redone with accurate and straight holes, all of which will set behind the lexan face plate that will get tinted/painted/other.

I bought the car almost ten years ago....and cut it apart last year about this time....so it's on a 20 year plan

Here is my idea for the connector....a flat blade screw driver with a slot cut in the middle could be used to make adjustment if needed.

I would want two versions, I flush version like shown and a protruding version for enclosures with minimal room inside.

I accidentally came across this product InstaMorph - Moldable Plastic.....someone say custom sized plastic enclosures....and oh so much more...endless possibilities

Similar but 1lb for $25

Heat reforms that stuff so a mod case wouldn't be so durable. Better for making mock ups.
