just got a dna30 was trying to test to make sure it wasnt doa and i think it is have a 18650 battery holder soldered in though a battery in and nothing does this thing need to be completely wired in to work or is my chip dead

just dont want to solder this all up then have to desolder it to ship it back any help would be helpful
I haven't seen the specs in a while...but probably does need more than 2 connections. You'll have better luck in the modder's section.

Might look at getting a breadboard. They are empty circuit boards designed to let you test circuits and chips without permanent soldering.
I don't see why it would require anything besides a battery to be connected. From the manual: "The dna 30D is a self-contained power regulator which does not require external components for its user interface."
Also "Stealth mode: While locked, holding the fire and down buttons simultaneously for five seconds will switch to stealth mode. In this mode the display is off. It will still show error and lock messages. To switch back to normal display mode, hold down the fire and down buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. This setting is stored to internal flash memory, and remains if power is removed."

Could you hook it up to a kanger coilhead or something, hell even a bare coil, just to test if it will power on?
if I remember correctly... I believe you need a switch and a push button wired in also I did a quick glance at the board in a picture and there looks like there are several solder pads that may need attention...
i did read though the data sheet and the board as pre installed fire and up and down switchs the problem was you need at least your battery and your 510 atty connected and grounded for the lcd to come on thanks for the help
