So I had a v1 Lavatube. Lasted over a year of moderate use.

When I got off analogs for good I got a smok Zmax. This saw heavy use, and still works OK. The chrome plating has almost completely rubbed off.

So I got myself a sengali Zmax. Due to the great "build quality". Except the threading got messed up with normal use after only 1 month and no drops. I've tried everything I can and it won't work right. I even tried, as a last resort, to use plies to squeeze the opening a little smaller. No dice.

Is there anything out there that will LAST? I'm guessing I need to just plunk down $200 and get the provari. But I'd rather not. Not sure if I can trust anything else at this point though. I want something to last 2+ years.

There are some "built to last" mods out there, but you'll be close to ProVari price or more for them. I will say that my first two ProVaris, that I've had the longest, have outlasted my Lavatubes by about a year...and still going strong.

Have you considered a mechanical mod with a Kick?

Seems like if I build a silver bullet with kick and with the kick sleeve needed to use my 18650's I'm at about $150 already, and now I have 3 different things I need to worry about replacing.

If you have a better option in mind with that can you link it for me please?

It's under clearance.

Ill never tell anyone how to spend their money. I can only tell you what caused me to purchase a Provari after doing all of the research for myself. I looked into all of the popular mods like the Vamo, Lavatube, evic etc...what stood out to me was the warranty, 1 year with the option to purchase an extension. Provape also provides repairs at a decent price outside of warranty. They although seemed to provide outstanding customer service. I was hesitant to spend so much on one device but by the time I go through a couple that weren't built to last I prob would have spent more. I received mines yesterday & I love it! Hope you make the right decision for YOU!

If you already have the batts and charger then you are ahead of the game. I got a blem ProVari with a charger, two batts and the extension cap for right around $200 out the door. This was my first step into the big mods. If you already have the batts and charger then you can get a blem ProVari, which don't really have any noticeable blems BTW, for under $200. Seems like you already sunk at least that much into mods that haven't lasted.

You and took almost the exact same path... Lava Tube v1 to Z-Max (v1)... When the Z-Max started acting flakey, I said screw it... For $40 more than what I paid for the Z-Max I could've had the Provari.

Of course the Z-Max v2 was out by then but I was over it. I went with a Provari mini. No regrets having made that decision. Just wish I would have skipped the Z-Max altogether.

Just my 2 cents... Hope it helps

It's a shame. I really did like the look and feel of the Sengali (sp?) zmax..But seriously.. To have my threads fail from normal use after a month. That was crap. Where was at least I have the belief I can send it to provari to fix if something happens.

Also, the black paint was coming off inside the 510 connection. Every time I cotton swabbed it, black paint was on the qtip.
