It's very easy to tell.

Wismec/joyetech attys all have a specific post length. If your pin is pushed down farther than that then you used a 3rd party atty. If your pin shows signs of scratching because you used a screwdriver or tweezers to pull the pin back up then you've been using 3rd party components to attempt to make your own repairs. To be covered the pin would have to be unscratched and pushed down no farther than the length of their own attys.
Unless, you know, one of their products was defective and the pin was too shallow, or the post was too long.

Try updating it to 4.10 It's a new software update since july 4th. (250 watts now)

Also that video shows a working mod. Not broken. Your 510 is just pushed down a little bit. I bet it will work with a different tank or atty. Also I have connection problems with allot of atty's. I also notice newer mods have been built with terrible spring loaded pins. This is what happened to my 100 watt istick (Not TC Version)

If it was just a bad connection, it would say "no atomizer" (or "check atomizer" or whatever the RX says when there's nothing attached), not "atomizer short". There has to be something else going on...

This happened to me with one of my atty's or tanks on this exact mod. First update to latest software. Then try and see what atty's work on it.

If the mod reads Shorting it could mean: Your build is touching something or something is loose in the atty. or the 510 is not touch the mods 510 directly. It doesn't mean it's broken. Its a safety feature they add to their products. Mine doesn't work with all my tanks and atty's. I have had this short thing before. Mine still works awesome! I have had mine for one month

Like I said it's not lying to you or this guy in the video. He needs to try rebuilding his RDA and seeing if anything is touching the sides or the posts. It could be touching the 510 but not firm enough. He could try getting a heat sink from fast tech Link That way he could adjust the 510 on the heat sink to work with this specific mod. It's not broken.

My iStick with floating pin after one year of work gave me the same message "atomizer short". After prying a center pin up everything was back to normal. May be center pin of a tank was touching both a mod's pin and a mod's body.

Magic Josh if you read the first two pages and watch the video all your questions have already been addressed.... It was not my build, I was getting "Atonomizer short" even without the atty attached and prying the pin has made it function again.

I apologize to everyone as I haven't updated this thread but I have yet to receive a message from Wismec so there is nothing to update with :/

(even without the atty attached)
Oh then he must have dropped it or got some serious leakage. I didn't notice it wasn't attached to a rda or tank. I only saw him use it with an atomizer. If that's the case then he should try an update it. And also his refund or exchange should done with the company he bought it from not Wismec directly.

Hello everyone, I have been a lurker here for a while. Mostly on the DIY e liquid threads, which I appreciate all of you and the great recipes you guys create. I had to join today to try to convince others not to make the same mistake I myself have made. I will be attaching a video to this thread (I couldn't find a way to upload onto the website directly so it will be a YouTube link) of the mod itsself. I purchased a RX200S on 05/28/16 (I say less than a month in the video as I hadn't checked my invoice on Elementvape at that point in time, also with the week long shipping it's almost exactly a month) and have been using it ever since. It became my favorite within minutes and have been using it since day one. I had read that Wismec 510s were shorter than most companies and that Wismec only warranties if you use their atties. So since day 1 I have only ever put the Indestructible Atty on it, nothing else, ever. Well today 7/11/2016 I got the "atonomizer short" screen. You have no idea how babied this mod has been. Never laid on hard surfaces, never taken out the house, never put into a pocket. This is as babied as babied can get. So after roughly a months use its already a paperweight, I have sent an email to Wismec and will make sure to update this thread with ALL correspondence posted into this thread to give people better insight into the situation.. At this point though even if they replace it free of charge I will never buy Wismec again, there was no way I could of babied this mod anymore than I already did and to break in a month with no abuse is unexceptional. Please learn from my mistake and don't buy the RX200S.

Sorry for the long post but I needed to say what I said

None of these mods is perfect. I have 2 - Sigelei 213s, and 4 - Sigelei Fuchai 213s, and none of the do temp control properly. They allegedly also don't go over 144W, but they suit my needs.

As far as the RX200S, I've known of the bad 510 situation (Wismec, Rulleaux, RX200, RX200S) for some time. This has been a known issue for more than 6 months. I just pre-ordered 2 - RX200S, and I'll probably order at least 2 more. I plan on either paying to have the 510s replaced or do it myself.

I am not at home right now or I could supply you with info on who/where to get the 510 changed out(SEE: YouTube video on RX200S by Mike Vapes); or what to buy and what videos to watch to do it yourself (SEARCH: YouTube for the video).

You didn't check very hard...

Warranty Policy - Wismec Electronics Co.,Ltd

Crush the 510 pin using a non-WISMEC atty = voided warranty.

There is a solution to the problem though...

Fat Daddy Vapes 510 V4 Low Profile Short

Works like a charm and I can put any atty I want on it without fear of breaking anything and they all sit nice and flush.

Looks great!

I'm waiting for my RX200S pre-orders to come. I knew abt the issue and plan to replace the 510s.

Did you do the work yourself? Was it a snap?

I'm thinking of doing it myself, and ordering 2 to 4 more for the vapocalypse.

Thanks!

I did it myself.

The only significant problem I had came from the fact that my old soldering iron doesn't work like it should anymore and took too long to heat the solder. I would have liked to have made cleaner solder points. I've since bought a new soldering iron and converted two more.

Other than that the only other hiccup came from the metal grounding strap on the back of the battery sled. It tends to want to move around a lot and since it's on the back it's extremely difficult to get lined up if it moves.

I did however find a nice trick to fix that problem though. The strap makes an upward curve and then bends down the back. Use a pair of pliers and pinch that metal curve until it's flat and mash it down on to the battery sled. If you to that then it will stay in place and the small hole where you put a screw through it and into the chip will stay aligned.

Read the thread I linked to. The OP has a picture of the strap and explains the difficulty of keeping it in it's proper place. Use my tip and it slides right in with no problem.

Is this considered scratching? I've had this for ~2 weeks and had to use my SuperTank Mini for the weekend which has a weird 510-pin on it.

Well since someone bumped this thread I'll just add that I never got a response from Wismec
Regretting this purchase, after each thread I read about the RX200s & Wismec's warranty policy. The people at the store told me it was only void when using the SMOK TFV4. Also got sold LG HE4's when I asked for LG HG2's, I got ....ed
