Ok, ECF moderators. How many do we need to get this letter or a similar letter posted as a sticky? I feel the ECF mods should decide the best place to put it ...but let us have a sticky or let us know how many more need to "sign on" here to get this done. Otherwise, if you don't think a sticky is warranted, I'd ask for guidance on making this issue known to new vapers (so they can be made aware and decide for themselves) and/or a way to encourage suppliers to make it known that they have heard us.

Thank you in advance for your response and for all the work you do to make ECF an ejoyable place to be!

That's absurd on its face. The flavorings in Lorann, Flavorart and the like have been used in food for decades.
No, he was correct.

The safety of using these flavorings in food is fairly well established.
But only a tiny fraction of the ingredients used in flavorings have been tested in any way for inhalation safety.

And there is a HUGE difference between eating them and inhaling them.
For example, you can eat all the diacetly you want, but if you inhale too much of it you can severely damage your lungs.

I vehemently disagree with this idea. The vaping safety of all of the flavoring ingredients is completely unknown. No testing has ever been done. Singling out one ingredient for no good reason is simply wrong-headed. Vape unflavored nic juice if you are concerned about it.

There is a good reason to single out diacetyl as it has been linked to lung damage when inhaled. That is reason enough for some people to want to know what juices or flavors it is in and at what levels, so they can make an informed decision about it. That is all this letter is about.

Toxicity is all about the dosage. The popcorn plant workers who were damaged by diacetyl were inhaling massive doses of it. It oozed from their pores at night when they slept. They were inhaling doses that were tens of thousands of times greater than that found in e-juice.

Did you know that arsenic is an essential nutrient for human nutrition? Yep, you can look it up. We have to have it in our diet, but only in trace quantities. Too much arsenic and you are dead. Toxicity is all about the dosage.

Any concerns about diacetyl in e-juice are completely misplaced and borne from sheer ignorance and scaremongering.

I would suggest you do some more reading of the many different studies posted on the forums. If you still have no concerns over diacetyl after doing your own research, then that is your choice.

Ignorance is the absence of information and education on any given subject.

Thank you FieryOne for your work on this :)

If you read the studies provided in the marathon thread, you'll see that the information you have is incorrect. There are also several articles you may research pertaining to at least three (with upwards of five) consumers impacted by it. Add that to the fact that we don't know the cumulative impacts or how much we are actually exposed to and the "dosage" becomes unclear at best.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I'm not sure how you think concerns about diacetyl stem from "sheer ignorance" or "scaremongering" when we don't have a dosage or a toxicity level to work with here. Especially considering "toxicity is all about dosage".
