Little bit of a funny story here but first and introduction as this is my first post on ECF as a Supplier.

I am OCD and I make the tanks sold at IBTanked.com by my Daughter the Offspring and MrsOCD. The two of them also decorate pyrex glass with special heat cured paint that is very durable, they also do all the packing and shipping.

Now about that thread title :) Well if you look on the site you will see some little bottles the girls called thingys for lack of a better name. These were sourced to provide and attractive shipping container and sized so that a full tank could be kept in it with a cartomizer installed in it. The idea came about out of my own penchant of carrying a spare tank or two that is ready to go in the event of a carto failing or of course simply running out of juice. Being able to drop it into my pocket and know it will stay clean and protected is very nice. I am also starting a bit of a personal collection of my own favorite tanks so its great to be able to store them and know nothing is going to get into the carto and the tank can never leak and cause a big mess.

Now you know what a thingy is but why would you want to fiddle with it? Well now this was a really neat little extra I discovered when putting a full tank into one. When you screw the cap on bubbles come out of the carto hole which means juice is going in of course. Well if you crank it on and off about a dozen or so times you can push a ml of juice into the carto. This ended up being the best way to fill a carto I have ever done. Its easy, it fill from the bottom and its absolutely clean. This also helps if you ever have a tank running lean where it is not wicking quite a fast as you are vaping, just drop it in the thingy and fiddle it a little.

So, I think thats enough of an intro from me and a little primer on thingys and fiddlin them to boot.

Chat me up if you have any questions on our tanks and just use the search feature of this forum on the terms "ibtanked" or "ibt" if you want to see how happy our ECF customers are with the low price and high quality Pyrex glass tanks we provide.

And the thingy... each tube or tank we ship comes with a spare set of orings and a thingy.

After using my first IBTanked this week, I am amazed! I love priming with the thingie, so easy and quick. Also it's nice to have a tank with a tight grip on the carto after using cheap loose tanks for so long.

Now I know that 3 IBTanked tanks are not enough, and will be ordering more. They are all XL length so now I need some standard and halfling sized tanks.

Remember Bookworm that any length can be used with that diameter cap simply by changing out the end caps, that is to say if you want to try a Standard or Halfling all you need is the glass.

We also love the thingy priming method, there have been a few folks in the past who never really got the hang of it and stuck with the thermometer sling or other methods but the thingy is hands down the fastest and easiest once you understand how to do it. Takes me around 10 or so turns most times of the cap and its a done deal.

The biggest hurdle isnt getting the cartomizer wet for most, its the getting it going part that many dont fully appreciate. Those first few times power is applied it is best to just tap the power button for half a second but take a regular full draw like you would had you held the button down the entire time. This draws the liquid in the cartomizer through the wadding in there and up close and personal with the coil. Those first few draws will begin to show a little vapor and flavor, then and only then is it time to apply more power. Even at that point I will gradually add the power giving it a second or two then three or four until it it lit up the entire draw.

Now all of that might sound scary or complicated for some but really its not. The whole idea is to simply break the cartomizer in slowly and it only needs to be done once for each cartomizer and not again until a new one is installed. My last cartomizer lasted five weeks, we vape a light/clear liquid that is a DiY mix of 10% Flavor Arts Watermelon. I mention that because YMWV depending on the liquid being used, how warm you run the cartomizer will also effect this life so being a Tootler is benefit here. I run my 3.2 ohm cartomizers at just above or below 4V. Also of note is that checking the cartomizer up near its end (it was still working when I changed it BTW) the resistance was 4.6 ohm.

I figured I'd say hello since I just ordered a tank from IBtanked. I had purchased a couple of tanks during the 2013 vapefest in vegas and really enjoyed using them....eventually drifted into Bottom coils and subohming with rba's, but playing with my vape toys one day I found an unused cartomizer, so I stuck it on one of my tanks......and here I am.

Hey, nice to see you back :) Kind of goes with my 'Theory of Vaping' which states "for any change the outcome is almost always an improvement". Of course this is impossible to sustain but the perception is there and I believe it is what drives many who are always on the search for the 'something better'. Different gives that impression of better even if it was something that was moved up from in the past coming back to it makes it fresh again. When you settle in to something you like it becomes more about ease of use.

Anyhow, thanks for droppin the note. We had a grand time in Vegas.

I love OCDs tanks, but honestly, when I first heard this I thought it was silly (sorry dude! ;) It sounded like just another toy to play with. HOWEVER - I got some 'thingies" with my last order, and decided to give it a try. Nothing to lose, right? It worked like a charm, and was actually less work than my usual method (prime the carto with some liquid, tank it, then suck some without turning on the PV.) Wit the thingy method, I've never gotten too much juice in the carto, and can easily fill the tank more completely than with my 'suckage' technique.

Besides, the thingies come with the tanks, and can be used to keep empty tanks safe and full tanks portable without mess. So, why not? I recommend it! :vapor:

Hi there Ev, yes fiddling your thingy can be quite satisfying and is at this time quite underrated. I think as more and more folks come to realize how good it is fiddling ones thingy might just become a rite of passage. I mean the condom method will only last so long and who like needles. Clean easy and sanitary... I say go forth and fiddle your thingy, and you are right you almost cannot fiddle it too much.
