I haven't had negative effects from vaping and consider the benefits of nicotine in terms of cognitive decline and dementia pretty valuable. I expect to maintain a low level of nicotine for the foreseeable future. Burning tobacco was the real health risk and even vapers sometimes forget nicotine is not the problem.

No. My plan was to try and quit smoking, which I have finally managed to do. I am retired. Maybe if I had to go to work and worry about finding a place to vape I would be more interested in trying to quit all together. When I travel I do it in my own motorhome. No hotel/motel worries. As it is, at my age, nah. I am trying to taper my nic level a bit. Will see how that goes.

did you try to slowly lower the nic in your juice? (works better with DIY where you can control all ingredients)
Yes, I am currently vaping 2mg. Just lowered from 3mg although I might up it to 2.5mg because I vape A LOT more when it's only 2mg.

Do you also plan to keep on vaping?
Yes, I plan to keep vaping.

After almost six years, I still have little confidence that I wouldn't be back to smoking in very short order if I couldn't vape. I see no downside to it in terms of physical effects, and I enjoy it. Lastly, the FDA has put me in a position where the ongoing costs associated with continuing indefinitely are practically negligible.

I started vaping in 2010 with 24mg juice in a Joye 510 cig-a-like and a Joye EGO. Years ago I titrated down to 3mg and have stayed there since, except for a couple of times when I mixed up some higher nic unflavored juice. Right now, I have two 100ml bottles of 18mg unflavored mixed up, but vaping them has a significant throat hit I'm no longer used to. I sometimes fill a tank with the 18mg if I'm going out for a while. When I do that I come back home with more than half the tank left as opposed to vaping a full tank if it's 3mg strength.

I'd like to stay at 18mg and only vape like I used to smoke. Maybe I'll eventually get away from the chain vape habit. :)

Look, we all have things we can't stop like breathing, sleeping, drinking water, m̶a̶s̶t̶u̶r̶b̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶.
I was always thinking that having less "habits" like that is making you more of a free person.
If you can eliminate a habit which is not a life important one, why won't you do it?

I don’t understand why we should give up things we enjoy. What’s the point of life, then? Just to work and exist?

Bad habits, which are addictions, by all means, try to get out from under them. Get away from things that add negativity, make your life worse or harder.

I can’t see vaping in that light. It’s been a very positive aspect for me.

Smoking was nothing but an addiction. Vaping is not just about getting nic, it’s a bunch of enjoyable hobbies.

OP, you stated that vaping was meant to be a means to quit smoking and then to quit vaping. Who said that? I have never heard that in my 10 years of vaping. Harm reduction, yes but aid to quit both...nah.

I’ve heard it called a cessation device, and I guess to some that equates it to the patch or pills, which are meant to be stopped after quitting has been achieved.

And like I said, I know people who went into it with the plan of getting off the vape, too. I didn’t. I didn’t even think I’d quit smoking though.

Oddly, no vapers ever ask me if I plan to quit, but plenty of smokers and non smokers do.

I take cessation as quitting smoking. That said I know some people who quit both, I am not planning on stopping.
