Don't forget that there's 3d metal sintering and other materials that could be fired after printing to make them change their state and become extremely hard wearing.

But plastics should only be used where necessary, unless major reduction of cost is a factor.

This is True.

But one Problem can be that Hardness and Brittle usually live on the Same Street. So many times you can make it Harder, but if you Drop It, it might Break.

Kinda like old ABS Pipes.

There are trade-offs. Mine are both "heavy" plastic and have an aluminum frame. They are a touch heavier, but I want longevity, which I am experiencing.

Even with trade-offs, I had to consider what "I" wanted.

I would never consider ANYTHING high-end that's 3D-printed in plastic. Machined from a chunk of Polymer?...sure (if the accompanying hardware/fit/finish/function are indeed "high-end")
