Do you vape more than when you smoked?

I just put that math to vaping and figured if perhaps the average is 6mls a day, then a chain vapor is up over 25......
I think that much depends on vaping style. It doesn't take a whole lot of direct-lung filling hits from dual stapled aliens (or whatever) at a three-digit wattage to boil off a milliliter of liquid, whereas a tootle-puffer using 10 watts on a single round coil can chain-vape all day long on a few milliliters.

That's what JC was alluding to, which I hadn't really seen or thought about. I didnt think there were alot of low wattage, mtl chainers, because of the usually higher nic, but there is. Getting back to the spinfuel statement, I truly believe that vaping is 95 percent safer than smoking and is harm reduction, which is believed by many here and those statements are told in many posts to new curious vapors and if one does believe that, then you also believe that there are some dangers involved, however slight they may be and is why I believe that vaping cannot be harmless and safe.

On what basis do you say, "cannot"?

If you had written, "probably isn't", I wouldn't question that opinion.

My personal (admittedly anecdotal) sense is that it has a protective effect against colds at the very least.
Im into my second winter with vaping. No colds or flues in either.

I also haven't broken any bones or had scabies, gout or ibs.

No wonder big pharma is afraid.

I believe that vaping cannot be harmless and safe.

You are still just assuming it is unhealthy long term, with no real amount of scientific research to back it up. That's no different than those that assume it is safe and/or healthy. None of us truly know the effects until more rigorous studies are preformed. We have no proof that the chemicals that we vape are either safe or harmful. We do know that these chemicals are safe to consume, but vaporizing and inhaling effects have yet to be thoroughly tested.

So until then I will go with what I see in myself, which since I stopped smoking and started vaping I have never felt better. I can breath easier and do much more without exhausting myself, I don't cough up anything in the mornings anymore, and I have more energy and don't have to work around my nicotine habbit anymore and just squeeze in a vape when I can.

Even though I vape ~20ml per day I don't feel any ill effects, and only see positive improvements. So just like others here I am more than will to roll the dice with those odds. Feel free to assume what you will, but remember that a lot of folks are not going to feel the same way until you can actually prove it (which can fairly be said for both sides of the argument).

I also have only seen positive results in the 8 years I have been vaping. I use to hack, cough, and get sick more often and that is completely gone. It's not vaping that is causing this recovery, but just the fact that I'm not smoking anymore. Now if I had just quit cold Turkey and never vaped, who knows, perhaps I would be feeling even better...you ask for something to back up my disagreement with my statement, well imo it should be the other way around. It's common sense to think that if someone is continuously inhaling something that is not meant to be inhaled into our lungs for decades, that there is going to be some that feel no I'll effects, some that feel sick, and some that will come down with a more serious health issue, that just the way it's going to be, period....there is just no way, impossible, for 100 percent of the population of vapors who after decades of vaping , especially continuously (like that statement said) to be perfectly fine...imo, if you make a statement (the one I was disagreeing with) that's who should have some facts to back it up with ....I think any chemicals we put in our bodys, especially an addiction, should never be stated as safe, healthy, and beneficial, that's just wrong and am dumbfounded that folks are disagreeing with me on this...anyone thinking of vaping should understand that it's only harm reduction and not something that is safe and harmless...

Just quit vaping already :D
I think you over state your opinion too much. Lots of emotive phrasing and appeals to higher authority and common sense but no meaty chunks of science or fact.
Its problematic.
You need to bring some science to the table so we can fact check it, research the authors and funding, study the methodology and compare it to other research.
This doesnt mean I disagree with you or have an opposing view. I just dont feel motivated or inspired by conjecture.

If it wasn't for vaping, I would definitely still be smoking. So, for me, vaping has been quite healthy.

I understand what you are saying, but do you know what all you breath in with the air you breath? Lots of unhealthy stuff floating around in there too. Same with what you drink. Bottled water has been found to have heavy metals and other toxins. Tons of people drink energy drinks, and I have seen a family member end up hospitalized from drinking monster drinks.

Almost everything we consume has some risk factor to it, vaping is no different. But just like a lot of other products, it very likely will have good and bad effects at the same time.

I simply seen a statement and disagreed with it . Whenever someone asks if vaping is safe, most quote the 95 percent thing and says its harm reduction, not something that is 100 percent safe, then when one says it's not 100 percent safe, everyone wants proof and is .... hurt.

It's been a long time since I smoked cigs. So, I would say about the same.
Sometimes I vape more and sometimes less. All depends.

As far as if vaping is safe for our bodies or not, IDK. Honestly none can factually state that it is. The medical folks in the UK lean that way in as far as versus cigs. Certainly it is healthier than smoking cigs and I honestly don't think anyone with three functional brain cells would debate that.

I totally get @vapdivrr 's point, and where he is coming from, that no one really knows the long term effects on the body, lungs or other organs. That is what he is saying and that is just fact...as of today. Future studies will have something much more concrete to say.
However by the time such studies come along I may be long gone. So I vape on...

Cheers

Any time you inhale anything besides air it has potential to be harmful.

When folks say vape flavoring comes from food ingredients I'm reminded of an engineer who said "eating asbestos dust is harmless, it's breathing it that is the issue".

Studys and such can be swayed any direction if the conductor chooses. So to me, that is also ambiguous.

I can feel some effects from vaping but my big test is how much carbon monoxide does vaping involve. None. That we know will weaken the heart and other vital organs and cause all kinds of issues. How much plaque building does vaping cause in my veins? None.

So without the carbon monoxide and plaque build up, the body can resume a normal life and even begin to heal from years of damage. So again I consider that inhaling moist flavoring into my lungs may not be ideal, but it sure beats tobacco smoke.

To me the ideal studies would be around the nicotine in one or the other. Smoking versus vaping it. In small doses nicotine is harmless. Sure nicotine is in some foods but how many people smoke potatos?

I still smoke, but a lot less thanks to vaping and I feel a lot better too. Now I can take a few drags from a cigarette and nod off to sleep shortly after. But if I vape an hour before bed I'm tossing and turning until midway through the night. On the other side of the coin if I'm sleep deprived a cigarette wakes me up and a vape causes my eyes to get heavy and I feel drowsy. Say at 2pm, a puff or two from a vape and I can nap like a baby.

I vape more so that I'll smoke less. And overall I feel better for it.

As a long, long time converter from heavy smoking (2 to 3 PAD) to vaping and, like Stols, using snus, I've seriously reduced vaping from the early years. I'll have a 60ml bottle last me months. I've never really tracked it but I know I haven't opened a new bottle this year. I only use about 5 portions us snus a day also. I'd estimate my cost has been reduced by a factor of 30.

I certainly love vaping and try my hardest to get people to vape instead of smoking and I know 100 percent its night and day better than smoking. it's really a miracle in how it works and hope in the future it gains popularity instead of all the b/s that's said about it....but I also keep in mind that it's an addiction and in the long term will have negative effects on some. I know there's no hard proof on this, but whenever you have millions and millions around the world of people inhaling chemicals for decades, it seems utterly impossible that everyone will have no negative effects from a long time usage....so imo whether I have no proof or not, I feel vaping cannot be safe and harmless. I know that's a stupid thing to say because even water has probably had I'll effects on someone somewhere, so nothing is totally safe and harmless, and that's all I meant.......

Totally agree vapd. There are known cases of communities in Conneticut that the air is heavily polluted by the exhaust of all the maple trees there. lol.
Perhaps it's Vermont, I forget. But either way, vapers there may skew studies in a negative direction.
And in my state, hooooooldy crap the air is yellow from all the pollen in early spring. And how many in say, Hawaii or Fiji breath pollutants blown there way from a developing industrial third world country? Would studies take that into consideration?

My father in law died of lung cancer and everybody swore it was cigarettes, yet his brother and sister did too and neither ever smoked. Was it environment they grew up in or second hand smoke or genetics?

I suppose the safest way to vape is mtl without the L and just take a drag, hold it in the mouth a time and blow it out without inhaling. It's like some say a butterfly taking off can change the weather. Tossing a stone into a pond can be said to contribute to slope erosion due to the ripples if one wants to make a study show that.

It's all too subjective right now. By the time studies prove one way or another most reading this will be below the grass or ashes in a vase.
