Well the question is do they even realize the time going by? I am sure the brain has defenses built in so its not like your stuck in a black hole unable to move....or so I hope. But anyway I am sure they could ask him what would he like, keep hoping he comes out or give up and pull plug. Would be interesting to ask him if they havent

We do have enough healthcare workers or money to take care of the people we have presently in a vegetative state so do not know how we can take care of millions more. Sad but true.

If they really can talk to him, and he can answer keep me alive...then pulling the plug would be murder. So yes....This is a huge thing to keep an eye on. And the good news is this will poor more money into finding way to help people come out of coma's.
