To me it depends on the flavors added. I tried some awhile ago when I first started vaping that were very weak in flavor. I have tried some others recently within the past few months from another vendor that are amazingly good. I guess it depends on how you mix it.
I mix and vape pure unflavored vg juice, sometimes with some homemade menthol drops in there. I find that the vg does naturally have a sweet flavor to it.
VG is known for sweetness and not as much flavor but alot of vapor. I tend to mix juices at 60/40 PG/VG but I drip on an atomizer. That combination would not work well with tanks and some clearos. It all depends on what you want to vape your juice on. Plus I have learned that even though I DIY at 60/40, I am addicted to some 100% VG flavors from a vendor also. So its all relatively depending on what you prefer when it comes to that.
If you are going to vape on tanks or clearos, I suggest 70/30 or 80/20 PG/VG. If you are going to drip on atomizers, it doesn't matter about the VG other than it might lower the longevity of your atomizers.
It's sweet if you taste it alone. I don't know if it adds sweetness to an e-liquid - just more of a smoothness.
I accidently ordered my fav e-liquid in 80vg/20pg then reordered it in my regular 80pg/20vg. The e-liquid wasn't sweeter. It did mute/smooth out the flavor - made it a little more subtle than the 80pg/20vg.
