Does a dual-coil tank wear out the battery?

Hi

I'm using the Innokin IClear30 tank - have two of them, so that I can take one apart for cleaning while using the other.

I'm finding it harder and harder to consistently get a good hit out of these tanks. I've tried using both the 2 ohm and 1.5 ohm atomisers, but the problem seems to happen with both of them.

First I thought that the atomisers just didn't last long. And this is true, they get bunged up very quickly. I try cleaning them with vodka, which makes a little bit of a difference - but now I'm just resigned to chucking the atty away after a couple of weeks. (My liquids are VG 6 or 12 mg/ml fruit flavours: e.g. cherry, apple, blueberry).

The batteries I'm using are Innokin Leos (new Leos, bought maybe 5 months ago). These as you probably know are not VV or VW. And recently I've found that I only get a good hit right at the top of the charge. It goes like this:

1. Charge up the battery until full (light goes out).
2. Take it off the charger and start vaping.
3. Perhaps only 1 hour later, it's useless. Switch to the other battery.

Now I've resorted to vaping in pass-through mode, i.e. with the battery permanently hooked up to a USB port on my PC. This is obviously not always possible. Even then, if I hold the button down long enough for a long vape, the light starts flashing (indicating that the current is going to shut down). And then the light goes on for a long time, indicating that the battery is trying to charge.

Have these batteries worn out? And do people think that this kind of dual-coil tank needs a heavy-duty battery to get the best out of it (so that I might have worn out these batteries faster becaus they're just having to work too hard)?

Thanks for any ideas.

Your batteries are likely wearing out, and the dual coils of the iClear 30's aren't helping matters.

You are firing two coils now instead of one, so the battery is asked to put out more amps than it would with a single coil.

I must be very lucky with my iClear 30's. I have four in a rotation with different flavors in them. I've had them for about 4 months and have yet to need to change the heads in any of them. I vape the equivalent of a tankful (3 ml) a day total. I'm using mine on a Provari, so I don't notice the battery drainage as much as you would on an ego style battery.

Maybe its time to move up to a mod? Consider the iTaste MVP with a built-in rechargeable battery that can last 2 - 3 days on a charge, and also has pass through ability. I had one (presently out on loan to a friend) and the iClears worked like a charm. Only $50.

Hi Baditude, and thanks a lot for the tips!

I have looked at the MVP - I'm put off by it because of its shape (don't really like the boxy shape). But I guess to get the best out of a dual-coil setup like the IClear, I will need more battery power. Having a think about it... :vapor:

I'm always amazed when I read about people keeping atty heads going for months: is that without any kind of cleaning? Mine seem to wear down in about 2-3 weeks max: and this was true of the Lea 800s I started with, and now the IClear. Like you I vape about 3ml a day.

Seems like I probably need some new batteries anyway, whichever kind I decide to go for.
