At no time have I stated I thought vaping was harmful/offensive. Your assumption that I have that assumption is somewhat misguided.

Every belief, every argument, has to have a basic assumption - a common foundation we both use to build our belief system. If it's good manners to not inflict our vapors on others, please explain how the basic assumption isn't that vaping is either harmful or offensive? You talked about others being disadvantaged (Disadvantaged? Really?) by being in proximity to vapors. You compared vaping to farm boots covered in pig feces.

Again, if what you're breathing out is that disgusting, change your brand. What I'm breathing out isn't harmful or offensive, and there's absolutely no reason for me to hide in shame to do it.

I knew a guy who used to hide his vaping. He was a serial killer, and he died in prison.

See how the juxtaposition of two totally unrelated things can create an impression?

I somewhat disagree. In as much there are some people I have read on forums that seem to exist solely for the fun of pulling apart other peoples comments with inane and often lop-sided logic. That is - whilst there is an aim to the argument the person is so vacuous they have no belief system of their own (and probably because of it) but only the need to ridicule others.

This is in no way aimed at any of the people in this thread (so far) I may add.

I was actually giving a comparison to an individual's perceived discomfort. Whilst it may be individual's assumption that there is a problem with someone vaping in a eatery (thinking it is cigarette smoke) doesn't change the real-ness to them, in a situation which could have been avoided by the "Vape-or" showing a modicum of respect for someone else rather than fulfilling their own immediate wants/needs.

You talked about others being disadvantaged (Disadvantaged? Really?) by being in proximity to vapors.

Maybe my VGo puts out way more vapour than your pro-vari cause at times I produce vast clouds of vapour. Thats the way I like it - uh-huh. When a mushroom cloud of vapour coming from the table next to you (Bacon, Cloves, Cinnacide or whatever flavour) blots out the person sitting across the table from you or precludes you from seeing your meal I think that could be interpreted as a perceived disadvantage-ment. Really.

You compared vaping to farm boots covered in pig feces. Again, if what you're breathing out is that disgusting, change your brand. What I'm breathing out isn't harmful or offensive, and there's absolutely no reason for me to hide in shame to do it.

You seem to be making a somewhat poorly disguised jibe at my breath. At no time has anyone other than you has made the inference that I am indeed vaping pig feces or comparing vaping to farm boots covered in pig feces. It was used as I stated before simply as a comparison, something it seems you have yet to grasp. Go back and read the post once more and if you still disagree that was what I inferred then I will agree to disagree - and move on.

I knew a guy who used to hide his vaping. He was a serial killer, and he died in prison.

If the impression you are trying to convey is that you know some pretty weird people, then I guess you've succeeded admirably.

:p

I posted on John Heald's facebook page and received a response from him concerning e-cig use on Carnival....

Me..."Hey, John! Now that the Legend, etc have a serenity deck, are we going to be allowed to use our e-cigs there since we aren't "smoking"? We've always been able to use them in non-smoking areas on the ships in the past....we don't use them in dining venues"

John Heald... Yes absolutely, e cigs will be fine everywhere outside and for now everywhere inside except the dining rooms. Cheers and have a great time.

For now this is the most definitive answer I've received about e-cig use on Carnival

Carnival just earned my business. My wife wants to do a cruise for our 4th anniversary next year and it will definitely be on Carnival after hearing this.

cheers for Carnival!!

I have to agree with the "no vaping in dining room", and purely on this: not everyone enjoys the same smells. Just as I would object to someone with strong perfume sitting next to me, (some are positively repulsive to me) I can understand not wanting to smell waffles while eating Lobster. My favorite vape is Blackberry Brandy. *I* think it smells fine (tastes better actually) but not everyone agrees in my household, so I try and vape other 'more pleasing' smells when they are around. And if they could ban strong perfumes, colognes, and other possible offensive smells... I am certain they would!

In 18 days we'll be on the Conquest and I'll be curious to see the reaction as I won't be doing so much stealth vaping. We just got off the Norwegian Jewel and only had one employee question my e-cig use on the non-smoking side of the pool deck. I merely held out my e-cig for him to see and said "I'm not smoking" and he nodded and walked away. Later in the cruise we played blackjack at the poolside casino and had no problem using the e-cigs in that non-smoking area.

So, vape away, my cruising friends :toast:

FYI today on FB from John Heald/Carnival

John Heald
The elcronic cigarette is here to stay and is obviously helping smokers. We are about to come out with some guidelines regarding this on the ships with most areas if not all being ones where we will allow them to be used. Anyone have any thoughts they want me to send to the beards before a final desickion is made?

If I personally was going to guess I think if it is not allowed anywhere it will be the main dining rooms/food service areas (such as the Lido buffet). I can live with that.

I love John, he was the cruise director on one of my cruises! Going again in Oct, this time with 4 other vapers (and some analog users as well)

I bet cruising with John is amazing but we've never had the opportunity....maybe some day as we already have cruise #24, #25 and #26 with Carnival booked

Hey Folks,
Just got back from cruising and vaping on the Carnival Fantasy.
Had a great time. Vaped everywhere I went on the ship and noone said one word against them.
Many asked questions and I happily answered them.
I did have one person do a *cough cough* after walking past me after I had exhaled while waiting for a elevator. I just smiled.
I spent most of my time in the Casino and the dealers were very interested and pleased. Even at the No Smoking tables.
Vape On!

Well, Contrary to what John Heald posted, Carnival states at the end of their FAQs about smoking that "Note: Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only allowed in the designated smoking areas." The smoking policy was changed June 15th....this sucks big time and I sure hope they re-think this ridiculous policy

OK, so I escalated my questions up the chain of command at Carnival and was told that for now the policy is e-cigs only in smoking allowed areas. The fellow I spoke with suggested we write or send an email to guestsolutionssupport@carnival.com and voice our thoughts on the matter of e-cigs being allowed only in "smoking" areas. I'm sending both an email and a written letter and hope others will do the same.
