Does dripping shorten atty life?

I seem to be going through atty's like mad, (510) and I like to drip. I was dripping mainly because it was getting so harsh after a few drags and topping off the cartridge didn't seem to help. Now I really like to drip because of the added hit but I really hate taking the thing apart every few drags and messing with the liquid, it's greasy and sticky which doesn't seem possible but it is. I'm new at this, just wondering.

If you like dripping, I'd suggest getting yourself a 'drip tip'. They're available from a LOT of vendors too! I got mine from SuperTManufacturing.

If you want to keep using the carts, try THIS method, you don't have to keep topping off every few mins...see how long the polyfill is? Doesn't have to be. Take it out of the cart. Cut it into 3 separate pieces using SHARP scissors. Fill the empty cart up with liquid up to the little 'ledge' you see on there, where it goes into the atty. I can usually get anywhere between 10-13 drops in it. Then, take the LITTLE piece of polyfill and pop it back on the top, leaving about 1mm or less of space from the edge of the cart and you're good to go.

+1 Domino's suggestions.

I drip at home and use carts on the road. Her cart mod will keep the filler wet for a long time so you won't get that burnt harshness.

I've been using my 510's for almost a month, bought extra attys but haven't used any. The original Joye attys seem to hold up well.

One atty gets at least 6 hrs of vapetime daily 7 days/week and is performing like the 2nd day I used it. But I do regular preventative maintenance 2-3x per week (less than a minute per atty).

I cleaned our Joye 510 atty's in denture cleaner! This was suggested by a member of this forum. It works great. Just dissolve a tablet of Effrident or similar product in 2-3 oz. hot water, along with atty's. Stir occasionally for about 3 hours. Rinse in hot water; place them screw end down on a paper towel for an hour or so; lay them on their sides overnight. You are good to go. I tried it. It works great. If you're not going to use the atty right away, cap it so it doesn't dry out too much.

Thanks for your response! Please, what do you do as prevenative maintenance? Do you blow it out?

I tried the cart method you described but maybe I used too big a piece as it still gets dry! Sigh.

Take a pair of tweezers and remove the polyfill..if the cart is dry, then it's doing it's job..you still have to re-fill it, it just lasts longer than having the full length of it in there.
