Does my idea make any sense?

Since I normally care much, much, more about taste than cloud, I think I will be doing 100% PG then.

And then just commercially rarely by 80/20 mixes for the rare times I want big cloud.

Have you Ever vaped any 100% PG e-liquids?

Because 100% PG can be kinda Harsh. Especially at some of the Wattages that people use Today.

Hi Ginette. Welcome to the ECF.

If I use e-liquids with more that 30 or 35% PG, I get that Popcorn Husk caught in the throat Cough after a Day or So.

70% PG would make me sound like Tom Waits with a Chest Cold.

I'd suggest trying some Lower PG e-Liquids and see if things get better.

    tickly cough

If you are very flavor oriented but don't need crazy clouds, you might want to try MTL RTA's or RDA's, I personally squonk for the ease of use. Hate dripping. Some of these little ones deliver a ton of flavor, providing you use a good quality coil and wick. I've heard good things about Dovpo Blotto mini from small RTA's. I have a Berserker Mini RTA (first version) and I think it's a great tank. I just got the Berseker Mini V2 and I'm looking forward to testing it out

Never vaped 100% PG, however I don't use nicotine, and I will be almost always vaping my MTL Nautilus X tank, which is only rated for up to 16W. At least for the foreseeable future.

I don't know, but I think I'll be fine, since I know nicotine makes liquids much harsher, but again, I don't use any, at all.

I always start low %'s with flavors. Makes it easier to adjust if, and as, needed.

Starting with too much flavorings, high %'s, will easily turn into a major train wreck of chemical soup and will taste like crap.

Not all flavors are created equal. Some are stronger, ultra concentrated, and others are weaker.

Learning DIY takes time and patience. There is no 'quick' in DIY. Unless you are going to start out with known (popular + loved) recipes but even those may require tweaking %'s for your own personal tastes.

DIY is not like popping in a drop-in coil and you're off.

You might be ok with 100%PG then, I never used that tank though so you need to try and see if the coils manage that without getting flooded

And one more advice: I would postpone the Cherry adventure for now. It's very easy to mess up cherries, or just get disgusting flavorings that you can't fix, and nothing is more demotivating in DIY if your first mixes suck. Mix a few nice and easy juices and once you get proficient, start experimenting with more challenging flavors. I tried peanut, I tried cherry, tried bubblegum, few coffe mixes- all miserable fails resulting in disgusting juices that neither myself nor my girlfriend wanted to have anything to do with. Gave my bubblegum to my neighbour but the guy could vape a molten car tyre and still enjoy it, especially for free

I'm not saying that cherry/chocolate combo is impossible but certainly very hard. Might take multiple attempts to achieve good results. And multiple attempts means months of trial/error, as you need to let the liquid steep (mature) for a period of time to let it develop its properties. What's tricky as well is that some liquids shouldn't steep for too long, like lemons. Lemons fade with time in most mixes, best to vape them after few days

Twiggy1995, for initial mixing of flavors you've never tried before it's a good idea to make small batches for testing. That way, you can weed out the ones you don't care for with a trial and move on to the others that pass the taste test. You just follow the recipe using a dropper and add so many drops of PG, VG, nic, and flavor(s). Shake it up and try it. Of course, most mixes need steeping to achieve max flavor and you just let it sit in the bottle for a week or two, shaking it up a couple of time daily.

    Thanks for the responses.

From what I am reading, the cherry flavour may be the most difficult part of a juice like this.

I guess my first course of action may be just to make a straight cherry, no other flavor first, just to figure out how much of it tastes good.
Cherry is certainly difficult to get right. And so is chocolate. 5% cherry is too much most likely. I'm starting to work with chocolates as of recently. Getting a chocolate flavor to taste right is a bit of a trick but can be done. I'm using a double chocolate clear at 4 or 5% and a cocoa at around 2%. Decent chocolate base to add other profiles to. So far I've added peppermint to one and cheesecake to another. Both were really nice. The cheesecake being the clear winner here and I'm getting ready to mix up some more of that this morning
