Does the eVic (original, not Supreme) have a step-down circuit?

I've googled and googled and can't seem to find the answer. Is there a buck circuit in the original eVic? Running 1.4 firmware.

I've discovered that my eleaf 20w doesn't and apparently my sigelei 20w doesn't (despite being the most expensive of all 3).

I've seen *hints* that the Joyetch eVic might...but nothing with certainty.
Anyone know?

Thanks!

eVic is Full Variable Voltage/wattage and does buck voltage. eVic is also only capable of about 1.5ohm minimum.

Thank you! This confirms my suspicions based off performance of the 3 mods.
So why is it that the eVic, which cost $60, has so many more features than the Sigelei 20w which cost me $80?
I pretty much just use 1.6 or 1.8ohm coils (kanger and nautilus aspire).

eVic: Pros: Buck circuit, rechargeable by micro-usb or swapping battery, updateable firmware, software to program the various modes, almost 1 inch shorter than sigelei. Cons: 11w and 1.5ohm limit, but not a limit for me.
Sigelei 20w: Pros: 20w. Cons: No buck circuit, no usb recharge, no updateable firmware, large size.

Given the above, it seems the eVic has superior circuitry. Why would the Sigelei be so much more expensive then? Is the DC output flatter?

I think the Evic's reputation was damaged somewhat in the initial release, when the control head was only glued together and had a tendency to come apart after a few drops. Later releases were beefed up via screws. The power output is smoother than most basic PWM mods, not quite as smooth as a Provari but far better than a Zmax.

It is a very flexible, configurable mod that vapes smoothly for those of us who are happy vaping at lower wattage.

Can't answer the rhetorical question about "why?" the iStick was made the way it is (I think it's crap myself.) but yes - the eVic can be set as low as 3.0 volts in VV mode. You are limited to 12 watts. It was originally a 15 watt device but Joyetech rolled that back to 12 watts in firmware - 15 was just a bit optimistic for what the design could handle without damage.

You may also find it produces a 'smoother' vape compared to an iStick due to the better PWM electronics employed.

Interesting. Well, I really like my eVic and scored at $60 IMO. No need for screen savers and the like on the Supreme, and I am fine at <11W. I don't even find myself using the sigelei 20w anymore. The eleaf istick is my ninja stealth vape device for work, and for that purpose, given its limitations, it works quite well. The battery lasts forever since I have to run it at such a low wattage.

I still use this happy eVic for a few vapes everyday ... it was the device that I quit smoking with back on Sept. 22, 2013.

lol ... it has 41,000+ puffs on the puff counter

If you want to stealth your eVic the Smoktech SID 18350 and 18500 battery tubes fit - both the eVic head and the eVic end cap. Some times the SID tubes are sold with the end cap, some times not, but they are usually cheaper as the tube only option and you don't need the end cap anyway.
