Does the mod affect the type/quality of the vape when using the same tank on a different mod?

Right. Flavor and "vapes smooth" are two different things. The vapes smooth description is hard to describe, and not all people will understand the difference. It is subtle.
Yes, it can be subtle....and it can be quite noticeable also....just depends on the mods you are comparing. When I first started noticing a difference was when I trying to find the best mod(of the mods I own) for a particular ejuice/tank I was using. The mods I have are varied from the Aegis 100 to DNA's to Polars. They deliver very different levels of power to the tank and gives a different -----what I think the OP is saying- type of a vape.

I find this discussion quite educational and I hope it will continue. And I may as well also say that I agree with @SupplyDaddy when he says that one tank/flavor can and does taste different on different mods(@vapdivrr-- I think that may be where you found the flavors introduced). That again may be because of the different levels of power/heat generated by each mod. Obviously not everyone can detect the differences but a few of us can.

just my 2 pennies.

Since it was asked. My setups are this. Mods are the Aegis Legend and the new Drag 2. Tank is the Fireluke Mesh Pro, both at 82 watts, with the duel mesh coil and the same juice. I get pretty much better everything on the Aegis Legend.

I don't really notice any lag between the two. The Legend may fire just a hair faster.

Don’t know of any objective measurements of the Voopoo Drag 2 but the Aegis Legend does show a very flat, clean and quick response

Then let me pose a question......some of the newer mods will allow a feature of soft, normal or hard hit. All using the same voltage and wattage. This seems to present the same situation.

    :)

Same power setting but this is not the same actual power output from instant to instant. With "ramp up" control the power output doesn't look like a ramp up either, it's the coil heating that looks like a ramp up. The power output to improve ramp up looks more like a peak that then ramps back down. I expect the conventional, constant power setting there is "soft". This is not particularly needed with coils properly proportioned to heat up quickly, but of course massive coils with terrible characteristics have become popular. I see the Vaporesso Revenger, for example, has the ability to customize the entire power curve to taste, not just soft to hard.

The battery unit can make differences in the vape, especially if there is need for it to be more than a steady power source. However, the atomizer and details thereof still have more variability and determines the vape assuming correct power can be applied. The battery unit alone is definitely not your "device" and tells much less about your vape than atomizer information.

This might seem like a silly question since I've been vaping for 3 years. But this is the first time I have used the exact same tank, the exact same coil, and the exact same wattage, and exact same juice on two different mods and I am getting a completely different vape.

Messed with the air flows on both and have them pretty much the same, which is where I like it. But I'm getting different vapes from each. The one has much more flavor and smoother overall, the other has a bit of a weird flavor and the hit doesn't feel as good or right.

Maybe this is a umm duh, question, but I never tried it this way.

Have you tried switching the tanks on the mods to see if this still holds true? Take a sticky note and mark 1 and 2 on both the tank and the mod, then switch them(just so you know which originally belongs where) and see if the one on the legend improves. If it does not improve then the tanks are not equal. Just a thought.

    :)

Am I missing something? Yes the OP said "different vape" but also said flavor
