My little dog Hannah. She had a tumor/growth on her side for years. Vet had said it was just a fatty tumor and was nothing to worry about, so we didn't. It kept getting larger over the years. Eventually it was the size of half a baseball, and we told the vet to remove it. Poor pup. This picture was the day of the surgery :(

She never let that hold her down. After that first day, she was always trying to be her rowdy self, and we had to keep holding her back, forcing her to take it easy.

She got the stitches out today (10 days). And man is she loving it- back to being her rowdy self :)

I have an 11 year old toy poodle named Sterling. He's completely unaware of the fact that he's 11 and a dog lol he also hates pictures, hence the glare- pretty sure I overdid it on photos when he was a puppy [emoji23]

Awe! Ohhh and he is sterling silver in color! How adorable!!! I miss the three dogs I had so much. Best friends forever. After living in apartments and condos with no yard or way to give a puppy what they really need to be happy and healthy, I was at a friends place one day and held my first kitten. He was the only Siamese in the litter and as soon as he was old enough to leave his mama I carried him home in my jean jacket pocket down the main streets of the city! His little head was peeking out and people at intersections were pointing and cooing at the little guy when I took him home. I had never had a cat before and had no clue what I was in for. He was the love of my life. I came home from school one day to find him all the way up a pecan tree! My other neighbors came out and we were about to call the fire department when I gently talked him down. I have been talking people down ever since that day. A cat changed my entire life. The one I am holding in my pic passed away a year and a half ago and she was 16 -- she almost made it to 17. I have now had 4 Siamese cats and we (husband and I) are condo dwellers, so we have been searching to adopt another asap. She got me through ovarian cancer, heart surgery and all kinds of medical nightmares. I owe my life to my friends with fur. They are beings, so profound. I could never live the rest of my life without a cat or dog.

Sorry, but I forgot to ask if there is a general pet thread for cats, birds, and everyone else we'll meet again on Rainbow Bridge.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

vet day today for the Hounds. mini dachshund had a bad reaction to K9 Advantix (we have many ticks around here so it's required) So she has meds to fix the skin infection that caused and new flea/tick meds. The beagle has an ear infection... typical beagle issue.... meds for that.
Both of them lost a pound each so exercise is working. Gracie weighs 9.5lbs. lol. Rudy is 44lbs.

My! Gfdeputy2: I hope she was okay after that. What is that, anyway? Some sort of cacti or thorns? Poor baby! Well, she's beautiful -- thorns and all. I guess until I can finally get my furry friend I'll just have to live vicariously through the pics and stories of other pet owners. I think they make us better because they are so much better than us humans. But that's just my humble opinion. :)

I would have freaked -- and you must have!!! I have never seen the damage a porcupine can do. I did not know they could release their quills! How weird! And on day two, Good thing she is all right.

The first thing one of my two kittens did (they were litter mates) was jump right into the kitchen sink without looking and without warning. Then one day I came home and he had been chewing on his string and I guess he did not know what to do and had no choice but to keep swallowing the entire small ball of string. Thank goodness it was not terribly long, but we just could not believe he did something like that. Then he passed it, and it would not come out and he started running around the apartment with it dragging far behind him. I nearly screamed I was so alarmed. I pretended everything was fine, gently picked him up and very slowly began pulling it out, making sure it was not stuck inside his intestines.

And his sister, the one I am holding in the avatar used to throw up in our first really old computer ... all the time. We could not believe the trouble they could get into! And they thought it was sooo funny, too. They would race up the drapes and yowl, race down again and chase each other and broke anything and everything they could get their paws on. Oh, how they laughed! They knew exactly what they were doing and they reveled in it!

I also had Scottish terriors and then a Cockapoo. They were so well behaved! What we'll do for our pets!

Nice looking dog. 14 years is a good run.

Ben was a sweetie. Yes, it is BS. I had to train my cockapoo to put the seat down when he was done. I tried to teach my cats to flush the toilet, but they preferred their box. I can't believe how empty it is without them.

Gfdeputy2: How weird! I will never touch one then. My uncle ate one once. I couldn't figure that out, but I was seven and thought he was eating a pineapple or something.

Wow!!! RainZG, that was amazing! It made my day! I can hardly wait to show this to my husband because all we talk about is adopting two kittens. We lost our last kitty (the one I'm holding) last year and she was 16. She was so funny and agile. This was the last pic I have of us together and of course, I didn't know it at the time. No cat ever had a better life. She was so loved. When her bluepoint brother died we were worried she would mourn herself ill so we went crazy buying her toys and she followed us everywhere. She talked all the time. She fetched until she started having trouble with her teeth. A few months longer and she would have made it to 17. We are journeying all the way to Virginia where the breeder moved in order to bring home two with her lineage. A little of her and her brother will be in our kittens. I know it's rather a cliche', but we are thinking of naming one Pyewacket from the old Jack Lemmon movie Bell, Book and Candle. I literally dream of my beloved friends. I can hardly wait!!!
Thanx for posting that.
