I tried to search here and Google and still couldn't clarity on the latest battery ban. Only something from 2012.

Ordered a mod, four 25r'S, and a charger. It was sent Priority, tracked to the first major hub, then stalled there 9 days ago. Usps rep on the phone said something is definitely wrong and opened an inquiry.

Vendor claims:

"Due to new mAh regulations USPS reroutes all packages containing external/internal batteries to ground shipping method. At this point USPS does not update tracking progress, although we assure you it is in route, and will reach its destination."

I ordered a mod (w/internal batteries) 3 months ago; it traveled 1700 miles in 3 days. Couldn't have been ground.

Anyone have any insight into these new regulations?

Rules are rules.

International Regulations - means ALL countries within the Treaty, Lithium Batteries are not to be Transported on Aircraft<with special provision>

i.e. a few Crates of Lithium batteries <Could> Ship via DHL/etc. in approved fireproof containers within Pressurized Cargo holds.

Small packages rarely end up in Fire containment storage.

Lithium batteries can swell at altitude, rupture and short. Generally not a good idea.

I'll take that bet. If I only cover 1700 miles in 3 days, I may not have a job on the 4th day.

Those regulations aren't new.

Trucker can always pull up on the side and scram for cover if the load becomes lively.

Can't do that with an airplane.

UPS cargo plane out of Dubai crashed - caused by lithium batteries cooking off.
Asiana cargo plane disappears off Jaeju Island - cause undetermined, but high percentage of the cargo was lithium batteries.
Plus a good number of incidents on the ground where - fortunately - nobody got hurt. But patching up a scarred airplane is costly.

That's why baggage, mail, cargo, passengers get fleeced for lithium batteries.

Still can ship them by air - as hazardous material. Means very strict - and expensive - packing and tons of additional paperwork. Doing that on an individual small parcel would increase the cost multifold.

That's why I place overseas orders seperately: Batteries ( if not bought locally ) in one order, all the other stuff in another.

Thanks Enaud, exactly what I was looking for and couldn't seem to find.

So no more than 2 lith per package airmail.

Still feel a little rooked as this rule has been around a year. It doesn't bother me that they abide by safety regs, just that they could have easily been a little more infomative at checkout.
Worse yet, USPS actually sent an estimated arrival date from the first hub that would have made it a 2 day delivery. They had to know by then it was going to crawl lol. Oh well, at least it arrived today.

I'll take that bet. If I only cover 1700 miles in 3 days, I may not have a job on the 4th day.

Nothing

They're empty tanks I delivered to Tractor Supply for retail sale.

I just run like that. And the boss expects it. I've averaged 3800+ miles a week since before the beginning of the year. That includes gov't mandated time off to reset my clock and personal time off.

4 out of every 5 days, I run over 700 miles before the end of my shift.

Don't get to carried away with the Lithium Battery Reports.
First off, a single, or even several Lithium batteries Venting, properly stored in containment, will not bring a Plane down.
Second - Researching Planes brought down/Forces to land - Verified as Involving Lithium Batteries - Relates Directly to Failure of Installed, On board, System Batteries.

Lithium Batteries have been in use in Aircraft for quite some time as a Weight reduction measure.

Yep some airplane fires have been caused by lithium batteries used in the airplane by the airplane. Not being shipped or in luggage.

I have NO IDEA where you are. It used to be that all users posted their state or country or general whereabouts when they join the forum and create a profile.....I've noticed lately this info is missing from many members profile under their avatar.

It makes a huge different how to answer these questions if somebody is in US, Asia, London, Australia, etc.

We don't even know what postal service is operating here.

Does anybody know why the location is not on user profiles anymore, or do people just leave that part out when they join now?"?

My apologies.

I think with shipments out of china they may use carrier pigeons  when I buy batteries from fastech I have to use a different carrier to avoid long delays.

Never ordered from fastech, but just checked out their shipping options after reading your post. Most state "cylindrical batteries prohibited"

Didn't see DHL or FedEx as option. How do you arrange a different carrier?

when I place my order they give me several shipping options. I pay the extra buck for upgraded shipment and usually get my order in 2 weeks or less. the free shipping takes a month or more but for batteries I choose singapore air. they transfer to USPS ground once the shipment reaches this country. received 4 25R's from them last month. hope this is helpful

As in "wurz.......mAh......... baddereez?!?!?"

Presumably it depends on the total mAh of the battery shipment.

mAh is the milliamphours.
It is a measure of the energy stored in the battery.
