El caso es que lo acabas de comprar y cuando le realizas una inspección y notas que tiene algo parecido a pintura blanca en la parte del polo positivo Hello, I would like to ask for your help with a situation I have with a battery. The point is that I just bought it and when performing an inspection and noticed that it has something similar to white paint on the positive pole part. I told the dealer that he sold me the battery but only says that it may be dirty, I approach the community to know if anyone has any idea what it can be. I hope you can help me with this question thank you. IMG_20220317_203715.jpg IMG_20220317_203654.jpg

As I have unfortunately learned myself, not only fake or cheap batteries can start rusting. I have an original Samsung 18650 whose minus pole has a nice big patch of rust on it (after having lived a few months right at the beach, I might add). It’s still working though…

Hola @Tenma. Welcome to ecf.

That almost looks like oxidation or corrosion. Is there a brand name for that battery? What are the specifications?
It could be a cheap fake that could pose problems.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A few things here:

1) ECF is an English only forum so please use a translate service when posting if you cannot write in English. The only places on ECF where you can post in your native non-English language is in the international forums, which are pretty much dead as far as I can tell lol.

2) What I see in the pictures looks like corrosion/oxidation to me. If that is the case, please stop using the batteries. Even if you paid $20USD for that Vapcell battery, a $20USD loss isn't a big deal compared to your face or hand being blown off.

3) It is not advisable to buy batteries from vape shops as there is a high probability they could be selling fakes or improperly stored batteries (even without their knowledge). You should only buy batteries from trusted battery-dedicated sources. Unfortunately Battery Mooch only has one trusted vendor that he lists for the EU - akkuteile.de. Although I hear that Nkon is a trusted source for EU customers, Mooch does not list them as I suppose he personally has no experience with them. But I would buy batteries from Nkon before I would buy from a vape shop - eu.nkon.nl. Battery Mooch also lists a few trusted vendors for UK but I'm not sure if importing from UK is cost-effective for EU customers. Regardless, those UK stores are 18650.uk, ecoluxshopdirect.co.uk, fogstar.co.uk.

4) It is also not advisable to use retail brands (aka Vapcell, Ohmtech, Fogstar, Efest, etc) because they could change the battery they use for a specific model at any time without you knowing and that new battery could be very different from what they have been using in the past. OEM brands are going to be your safest bet. OEM brands are brands like Molicel, Samsung, LG, Sony/Murata, & Panasonic/Sanyo. But see #3 - only buy from trusted sources.
