Dream Pipe's custom pipe build

Hi everyone,
It's my first post here but I've been lurking for about a week. I smoke a lot more than I should, but being a college student is stressful and nicotine really helps. Because I don't want to quit nicotine I decided I would switch over to the electronic world. I've thought a lot about it and I have designed an e-pipe that will suit my needs perfectly. Hopefully these pictures will show up, I've been drawing out a lot of plans lately. I have quite a bit of experience with tinkering and building so I'm confident I'm up for the task at hand. I hand picked all of the parts necessary for this build. The only thing I'm waiting on are the IMR efest 18350's. Here it goes. The first picture is of the concept, before I actually knew the size of any of the parts I would use. IMG_2111.jpg The first thing I did after I found the parts I wanted online was to draw a basic wiring diagram of how I thought it should all be arranged. It's fairly minimal because it needs to fit into a normal-ish sized pipe.IMG_2113.jpg Here is a layout of a bunch of parts drawn to size.IMG_2114.jpg And here is the master drawing of what the inside of the pipe will look like, with actual size measurements included.IMG_2116.jpg. The last photo I had to embed from photobucket because I think I went over the size limit. Going left to right, top to bottom is a battery spring, 60ml of 50/50 24mg unflavored nic liquid, a needle bottle, a mini cobra knockoff atomizer, a pipe stem that I'll adapt to fit the atomizer, a pre-wired 510 connector, a micro usb breakout board, some tactile switches, a 3.7v charging circuit board,an on/off switch, some orange 5mm leds to make the pipe glow, a spare stainless mesh wick, and a spare piece of kanthal wire.

Thank you, yeah unless it's coming from your head the design might not really make so much sense. I can tell you that the general idea is that I'm making the pipe out of two wooden halves that will screw together. Inside of the pipe I'm going to sandwich all of the electronics. Orange LEDs will be embedded at the top to simulate the glow of a real pipe, and I will hand mold a custom insert that will realistically represent burning tobacco. The battery will be in the middle. Just behind the battery will be a compartment for the 3.7v charger which will be hooked to a usb breakout board (or maybe not, I'll see on that). The charger will allow me to recharge the pipe itself rather than remove the batteries. There will be a momentary contact switch for vapor, and a micro toggle switch for on/off. My next few steps are going to be wrapping a coil for my rebuildable that is in the resistance range I want, finding a block of wood that suits my need, and then beginning to outline the pipe shape and carve down the block. Thank you for your interest. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress.

Sounds like a great project. Please post pics of your progress. I'm definitely thinking an e-pipe will be in my future, but I'm still new to vaping I'm still learning the parts and pieces necessary to do something like this. My thoughts were more of doing a conversion of an tobacco pipe, but this approach is opening my eyes to other possibilities.

Hey everyone, so I went to radioshack and got a breadboard so I could mess around with my circuit. I found out that there wasn't enough juice coming out of the battery charging breakout board I got to actually feed the atty. I used my pre-wired connector to try and get juice out of one of the Li-Mn IMR batteries I got and I still got nothing. I knew that the coil was fine because I tested it and it was 2.2 ohms, just what I wanted. I then scraped the solder on the connector and made everything cleaner and finally I got some sizzling action! Now I am officially vaporizing nicotine with my own hand-wound coil. :thumbs:Here is a short video I took of it, let me know if you guys have any questions!
