6 months vaping and lots of 901 attys later, i've found the drip method works best, but at the cost of flooding and destroyed batteries. I can get atbest, 2 weeks from an atty using conventional methods, most of my attys lasted a week to 10 days, then preformance went downhill.
To make a long story short...i've sorta, kinda made my 901 atty into a sorta, kinda cartomizer, and sorta, kinda use the drip method. I've taken a small piece of polyfill, maybe a 1/4 inch wide, a 1/2 inch long, and stuffed it lightly around the coil. The poylfill is an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch from the top inside of the atty. Ofcourse now the tip won't fit because it wont go inside the atty, so I use the rubber condom from a cartomizer as a tip...with a hole ofcourse.
This setup will hold 7 to 8 drops of liquid, inturn, it keeps the wick wet, you can't flood the atty, and it does not get hot, no matter how much you puff on it. And as for puffs, i've gotten up to 50 long draws off of it before it needs more juice. The best news is, my 901 atty has lasted 4 weeks, and shows no sign of stopping. It seems to wick every last drop, even seems to simulate smoke from an analog even better...not to mention a very easy draw.
The down side....you might get alittle mouth juice the first couple puffs.....but i found if you draw really easy you can minimize that....
I've tried different materials, blue foam, tea bags, etc...they all seem to work, but the poly is easy to replace every night so thats what i've been using.
What it comes down to is... maybe i just got a good long lasting atty, who knows, but for now, it hits as good as when it was new, doesn't get hot, and i've vaped heavy trying to make it fail....Thank you for this forum...its been 6 months since my last cig....I can't see myself ever wanting to "light up" again.
