Could someone please explain to me how 'drip tips' work? I mean, I understand the concept, but could someone give a run-down of the anatomy of a PV with a drip tip on it? I currently have a KR808-D1 (cartomizers) and I'm wondering if I purchased a 510 how this would work.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm finding that cartomizers and I just don't get along since I started buying e-juice and filling my own.

Thanks in advance!

if you're going to drip with a 510 all the drip tip does is replace the cartridge. it goes battery > atty > drip tip. you just drip in a few drops and then vape away. i usually add a few more drops every 5 drags or when i start to get a bad flavor. i've found i go through liquid much quicker doing it this way though. i'm currently using a Chuck @ 3.7v with an LR 510 atty and Zip Tip from Pure Smoker. i'm new to dripping so i'm still trying to get it fully figured out (if that's possible).

someone will probably chime in soon with more info.

Well, you can take out the tip from a cartomizer and use a drip tip on them too, but here's the idea:

510 battery + atomizer (LR or regular) + drip tip....and you drip 2-3 drops in the er...drip tip. This gives you that great "fresh carto" taste every time. It's a little more work, but I lurve it. Since the drip tip keeps your lips further away form the atty, it doesn't "spit" in your mouth and it stays cool so your lips don't cry for help lol.

The 510 atty comes with a tip. That tip has a pin-sized hole in it. Therefore, you have to remove the tip to direct drip. The drip tip has a big hole at the end which allows you to drip without removing the tip. BUT, get the long drip tips and not the shorties. The shorties can tend to be a juice-drinking experience.

I just started dripping too and I can say for certain that I can taste flavors much better with the drip tip. Mine's a 510 style, but I saw 808 styles when I was ordering (madvapes.com). They have a little o-ring on the base that seats into the atty, so leakage is reduced unless you don't hit the hole in the tip... another thing I've started to notice is when I drip a few drops into the hole, the liquid is staying at the top of the tip instead of draining down to the atty bridge. I've been using a toothpick to release the liquid. No biggie. Also for DIY'ers they're indispensable and I do mix a lot.
It's pretty easy to drip a few drops in the hole, then start vaping...as long as you have both hands available to do so, your OK.

Tell me about it! I got a stainless steel T-tip from Super T. Great widemouth design, but I made the mistake of getting a shortie. It still works well, but I have to be extra careful to not overfill or suck too hard. I now have a regular length SS T-tip on order.

Thank you all for clarifying the mystery that is the 'drip tip'. I'm actually glad I didn't get one, because my life is too crazy to be dripping constantly...I guess I'm stuck with these cartomizers for now. :(

One thing I've noticed with the blank KR808 cartos that I bought...juice tastes RANCID in them. Yuck. I managed to refill some of the used vanilla and coffee carts I got with my V2Cig with Viking Vapor juice, and they taste much better than the blanks filled with the same juice. Why would that be? I mean, they're blank! They shouldn't taste bad, should they? Am I doing something wrong? (Sorry. I'm changing the subject. I'm a female with ADHD...I can't help myself.)

I don't have the KR808, but I notice with the 510s if I do not have them plenty full, the taste is less than optimal (it was so bad that I thought I had bought a whole batch of bad ones). So make sure you've got them plenty full. Also, if I can fill and let them sit a while, it seems to soak in and I get better flavor.

Also, I use a drip tip with my cartomizers, even without dripping, because I prefer the feel of the drip tip to the metal feel of the cartos, and it also prevents any juice sucking, unless I go a little overboard with refilling my cartomizers.

Ahh yes! That must be it! I'm so impatient...I never let the juice sink in long enough. That's gotta be it. Thank you!

On my 808s I fill using the cart condom and spin method and they are ready to go right away. On 510s I let them sit a while. Either way, I always keep 'em pretty full - top off a couple in the morning and get the same taste as dripping a 510 atty.
