Nice work, time to put two wicks in that bad boy. :)

I've been wondering what the square wick is in your avatar but haven't managed to dig through your posts to find out.

Didn't know what to do with that little piece of mystery mesh that came with one of my atties; so I folded it into a cube and vaped it before throwing it out.

edit: oh, and its Mr. Bill, "Oh, no, silicosis!" ;)

BTW... Built up the RSST for the 1st time today.
Ground out a solid 3/16th wick and tapered it to 7/64ths for the coil.
I'm still on the 1st tank but so far it's wicking well and hitting like a champ.

Nice work! That looks slick. Glad to see the zero gap "jasl wrap... Lol" is working for you. I was starting to feel lonely... :D

Yep, the zero gap (jasl wrap) is my default now. Although, I am going to start playing with combos. I'm hoping to find its like a mixing board (wrap spacing); bass end on the spaced wraps, treble on the zero-g. Who knows? . . . . . . . . maybe you! Have you tried mixed wraps?

You know the guys in the FC-2000 thread are going the opposite direction. They don't know about the power of the small diameter wrap, and their wicks are fat on top. I'm sure there's something to it (the reservoir on top idea) but they're discovering the heat-sink factors just now.

I've been doing some awful long legs lately. It almost seems like not only does the leg not glow, but even the zero-g wraps have a more pronounced "heat to the center" pattern. It's like the coil knows what I want from it.

edit: this ▲ re: "vertical distance" ▲▲

double edit: the pick at the top of the thread is a good example. center three "white" hot, next two aglow, legs . . . . . . icewater

I ran super close-wrap coils on silica when I first started using it, but the wick wasn't great at keeping juice in the coil area. People in the drunker thread have been doing touching-coils for quite a while as well, and seem to have good success with cotton of all things (I would think the concentrated heat would burn it right up, but apparently it works fine).

Nice to see others using this on different wicking materials.

I've got some fancy braided cotton rope coming from France. I look forward to trying it, S.Wit. (Never woulda thought)

Yea... The ProVari is still my primary device so I'm inclined to wrap coils that are suited to work well with it. That means 30 or 32 awg wire (never higher than 30 awg) and 1.4+ ohms and as many coils as I can get while staying under 2.0 ohms.

I tried a few different kinds of cotton and just couldn't get into to it. No matter what I did to it, no matter how many times I boiled it, I could always taste it. Plus it just looked soooo gross. Once it took the plunge with ss I was hooked. If it weren't for pdib drilling a hole in a fish wick, I probably woulda never finished a wick. Now I'm hooked on that...

That reminds me... I need to do some more ss wicks... Just so I don't forget how to do it.
