So I'm wanting to buy a new mod but going insane trying to pick one. I was all set to go to a vv/VW until I tried someone's silver bullet the other day. I have been rocking two twists lately and currently have a protank, evod, iClear 16 and a cartotank invade that alters opinions. But I am planning on getting a rba drip this week.

I was thinking vamo but everyone seems to use that just as a stepping stone towards other mods. The KTS storm is cheap but quality seems questionable. I've looked at the svd and tesla as well.

I don't have any 18xxx batteries yet not a charger. Preferably would like to stay under $100 with the batteries and mod.

Any suggestions please?

Thoughts from anyone? Are there other mechanicals I should look at? I want to step up but I don't want to make a step and wish I'd gone a little further.

thats the problem - there is cheap and then there is better its up to you to ultimately decide.

but for what its worth i have 3 provari's and still count my vamo as a great device for the 30 i paid for it. i wouldnt count on it to last years but had it almost 8 months and works just fine, think of it this way, it is a step up device but it works and works good and 4 to 6 months or more if you want better you could easily have the money saved by then. 50 bucks on fast tech gets you a vamo, charge and two kick .... panny batteries.
while i dont fall into the collector mentality there is always a need for a couple decent backups laying around,,,,, just in case.......

check out vaporjoesblog he is always linking to mechs that are nice units compared to the price paid.

Thanks thrasher that's what I have been doing. I see the kts pop up on vapor joes which is why I ask. But I'm a little scared by the cheap!

I'm not afraid of a little work which is why I have been looking into mechanicals and rba's. the thing about vamo that worries me is that it seems like everyone says I bought a vamo but then I got...

I can too easily get the collector mentality which I'm trying to avoid. So I don't want to be shopping around again in a few weeks/months.

most of the people in this position are already setting themselves up to use the vamo as a vv/vw test device to see if they want to go further. the guy at work has one and cant understand why anyone would spend 100 or more on an apv, lol and here im looking at the svoe mesto nivel for 225.

theres plenty of cheaper mods that work well. most of the ones i have seen first hand are made well, its little things that are different like the metal is a little thinner, or the spring isnt as good etc. but china is catching up fast. this time last year i would tell you your crazy for buying a mech from china. now? not so much

If your on a budget and want a vv/vw mod, check fastech. SVD $40 Vamo $32. They also have plenty of cheap RBA/RDA atomizers, clearomizers, and all kinds of devices. Free shipping. It will take 8-10 days to arrive but it's cheap. If you want a mechanical on the cheap. Richmanvapors has the Sigelei 20 v2 for $32. Exhalevapors has the new flat top KTS for $22. You should check out ........'s blogs for great deals.

Cavere,

Your problem is the $100 cap on moving up. If that is your top limit, the Stainless Steel Vamo is your best bet for a VV/VW device. If you read the VAMO thread, the only weak points are the inner silicone seal and the 510 threads at the top. You can purchase an Air Controller from Mad Vapes for $2.99 and solve both of those problems plus another very cheaply. The VAMO lacks an air control mechanism and when you use some tanks they will draw very hard. The Air Controller, solves all of those problems, but not the psychological urge to have something better. That urge keeps all of our wallets on the empty side.

Not only does everyone have a different upgrade budget but upgrading can be almost as subjective as juice flavors. What made me happy and fit budget and needs and desires, at least until the next time the kitty filled up and something 'next generation' hits the market may fail you complete once in your hands.

I was very happy that I made my decision to do with the sigelei #8 because, as you said, there are mods that I was able to get to tune in my 'experience' without being stuck with hardware that was not quite doing it for me and no budget to add on with.

I know what you mean Cavere, I'm using Ego twist set up and it works fine, I'm not smoking just vaping and am quite happy, however I keep looking at these bigger fancier devices and have been controlling my urge to buy something bigger and better, so far I have been able to restrain myself, my current thinking is if I'm going to upgrade it will probably be a provari and as they are so expensive I am forcing myself to wait until I at least reach my 6 month anniversary of not smoking. The only reason I haven't gone for a Vamo as the next step up is that I have heard that they are noisy (which would drive me nuts). Ultimately the best device is the one the keeps us off the stinkies.

I have 3 provari's and 3 mechs.. For what it's worth, and something to consider... I ONLY use my mechs with rbas built at .8-1ohm..anything higher and the vape just doesn't do it for me. I use my provari's with my silica rbas and build then around 2ohms. I do use ss mesh rbas with my provari's and I build then around 1.2ohms and run them right up to the amp limit. If you're going to get a mech, consider what you're going to use on it.. I can't feel the voltage drop (as the batt discharges) very much at all with a .8 genny on it but if I go higher, say 1.2ohms, then the vape isn't "powerful" enough for my liking and I constantly feel like I need to change out to a fresh charged batt. Not to tell you what to buy or what not to buy, I'm just giving you something to think about in terms of how you're planning on using a mech.

I do love using my mechs, but IF I had to choose just one (and I'm glad I don't) I would have to go with the VV device because, for me, it's more versatile and the voltage (or wattage if you choose a vv/vw device) stays constant while the batt discharges.

Thanks Donnah. That is something I am considering. I planning on buying a RBA drip atty this week and ordering a mod in the next day or two. If I got with a mechanical I would eventually want to get a kick with an 18500 for use with higher ohm coils. I will use my twists for going out just because they are so easy to throw in my pocket an charge in my car if needed.

I'm not going to jump into SS could just yet but eventually I want to. Unless something else changes my mind I think I'm going to order a sigelei #8 mechanical from steambucker. Then I would just have to pick up some batteries and charger.

After sleeping on it I think I will change my mind and pick up a vamo. For a couple of reasons. I can get it locally which is nice but most important is the ohm checker. Since I want to get into RBAs that will allow me to check the resistance easier than always have my multimeter on hand. It won't be too hard to pick up a sigelei or kts mech mod in the near future.

I am in the same boat. I bought a vamo 3 months ago and decided to throw it in the drawer to collect dust. Tired of it turning itself off and not sure I want to spend the time to try and fix it any further. I searched for days and finally just forced myself to make a decision and settled on the sigelei zmax v3. You would think that with as many gadgets that are floating around out there I wouldn't have a hard time deciding since I know what functions I want, but for some reason, what's out there right now doesn't fit the bill for the amount I wanted to spend. Even the high end stuff right now wasn't all that appealing or is impossible to get my hands on. skeptically and hopefully optimistic on the zmax. I really need to cool it with vapemail, been spending way too much money on DIY supplies lately.

hmmm.... noisy? haven't had that issue, had other issues but noisy isn't one of them. What kind of noises?
