Hi Guys,

So yesterday one of the 18650's slipped out of my hand. It dropped from a meter high. Would my battery still be ok? I cant seem to find any dents or serious damage on the shrink foil. (check pictures) Can i still keep using it and recharge, should i rewrap, or buy a new one?

Also can anyone please explain to me what the dangers are of having a damaged battery wrap in a regulated device like the cuboid? The last thing i want is battery venting.

@tenacious

The battery looks fine. Just a slight scuff on the wrapper.

I wouldn't worry.

That said I'm viewing a photo on a small screened phone.

If there is a tear in the wrapper where any metal is exposed then it will need re-wrapping.

You're better placed to judge this than me.

What battery is that? Have you re-wrapped it previously, as it hasn't the manufacture markings of any quality battery I'm aware of.

I drop mine all time. I would keep using it. I keep lots of rewrappers around for when needed. I rewrapped a friends batteries and told him they were new. He phoned me a couple days later telling me how good the new batteries were and how much longer they lasted over his old ones. Then I broke the news to him they are his batteries. LOL Cheers!

Kudos to you for asking this question.
It shows that you have your mind on safety and that's where all vapers' minds should be.
To me, someone who's dropped more batteries than a little bit, that looks like nothing more than a scuff mark. Totally safe to use and charge.
However, if that scuff turns into a tear and there is bare battery exposed, re-wrap.
And as always...Vape On!

Helps to actually be able to recognize levels of damage and know a bit about testing.

It Looks fine...................though any internal compression would not be visible.

A cycle of Drain on a Regulated mod at a lower wattage and normal Charge to full power would make me feel more confident in continuing use.

* I drop/knock over batteries often(disability issue) but rarely more than 2ft. to a decent carpet floor.
