I managed to drop my vamo in a sink full of water last night. I yanked it right out and it was showing Cb on the screen. I whipped the battery out, dried the vamo off and stuck it in the food dehydrator overnight at the lowest heat setting. It seems to be working just fine now, but my question is about the battery that was in it.

The battery didn't get super wet. Actually, I couldn't see any moisture on it at all. I stuck it in a pan of kitty litter that I had laying around for a previous emergency electronic dunking event (ipad fell in the tub, no more watching netflix in the tub for me). Is there anything I should worry about with the battery? It's a Panasonic 18650ch.

By the way, the iPad is fully functional now. That was a big relief. The touch screen totally spazzed out after it's bath and it took it about a day and a half to dry out. Once it did, it worked fine. Whew!

the battery is a sealed unit. It is designed to vent in case of an internal malfunction due to heat. exterior water is not going to create a problem.

That makes sense. I guess if water could get in other stuff would be leaking out, or maybe leaking is the wrong word. Spurting? Explosively spewing?

Well, when those thing happen to me, I put the accidentally washed device in silica - yes the stuff that comes in those little packets, and in bigger ones usually sold for use in gun safes from places like Midway USA, Cabela, Bass Pro Shops and such. 6-8 hours in that and I have yet to have anything fail to work and, be fine after that and, you can pop the silica in the oven at 200 for a couple of hours to dry it out for reuse.

These things happen to other people too!? I'm so relieved. I used to have some chemical that we'd use in the lab for drying things out, calcium carbonate maybe? It had a color indicator to show when it was dry or too wet, and you could bake the water out to recharge of. I don't know what ever happened to the jar I had.

I tried to find damp rid when my ipad was moist. I couldn't find it at Walgreens, and I can't remember where else I checked. Considering my history, I really should just get some to have on hand.

My mother in law keeps those in her bathrooms. Problem is, I think they must be 20 years old. They are basically damp rid with a permanent puddle of water on top.

A while back a member posted how he dropped his apv in the toilet. He then went on to say that after he picked it out of the bowl he then took a vape just to make sure that it still worked. Now that was priceless lol

Drops Vamo in sink. Drops iPad in tub. I see the username fits.
