Hi folks,
Been vaping and reading these forums for just over a week now and really couldnt be happier about it. I started out with an E-Lite after seeing an advertisement for them in the back of a newspaper. I used that and the prefilled regular strenght nic carto's that came with it then decided (after reading a fair bit here) that it would be better long term if I got something that was alittle cheaper to run, £20/$25-30 for 5 carto's is alittle ridiculous compared to the prices I saw you guys discussing.

So, I got myself a 510 starter kit from UK-eliquids because I know they're a reputable company with a 10,000sqft warehouse within the UK - something which was massively important to me as a new vapor. My girlfriend then tried a few drags of my RY4 which she immediately identified as "Candy Floss" (cotton candy in the US, I believe) and now wants a kit of her own. As does my mother, my sister and father. Spending my own money on this kit was easy enough and I'm buying my girlfriends so that's fine but I'm not to keen on wasting other peoples money so I was looking for some confirmation that the kit is of a reasonable quality before I bust out the Visa and order everyone elses.

This is the kit: Electronic Cigarette Kit 510 Black — UK-Eliquid

I've had mine for 24 hours and it's working a charm but that tells me nothing about how long it will last or any issues that may pop up in a few weeks. Although the URL says it's a Joye 510 the unit itself seems to be unbranded. Is this normal? Is Joye a decent brand anyway?

In all honesty I'm not even sure I'm asking the right questions, I could be missing some majorly important stuff when assessing the quality of a "PV". Any advice, tips and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping. You will run into alot of situations like this in your long journey. From what I could tell, I didn't see any identification on the site about the brand of the kit. I'm guessing it is NOT a genuine Joye product judging by 2 things. The button on the battery does not resemble that of a Joye 510 and the case that it comes in is not a Joye product either. The best thing you can do is verify the warranty on the product and cross your fingers. If YOU feel comfortable with the quality of it, then it will probably work out fine.

The Joye brand is definitely one of the best and it is often imitated. The only thing that I personally don't like are their atomizers...

Good Luck!

Greetings from Canada! Welcome to ECF!

First, in Canada they expect us to pay $5 for a flavoured no-nic cartomizer (minimum 5 pack, $25). Nic is available only on line. I know how you feel.

Second, yes I see joye in the url. That's unusual. They probably did sell joye at one time and changed the page description but not the url. These are NOT Joye. That's not a problem as long as you know. I prefer most of the other brands to Joye, personally. They are usually lower quality than Joye but at a correspondingly lower price.

A lot of people are happy with the small 510's. I prefer the eGo size myself because of the longer battery life. You have to decide what is most important to you. On the plus side, anything you use on the 510 can still be used on an eGo (or larger 510) system if you do upgrade later.

The Vision eGo clearomizer on an 1100mah eGo pass-through is where I am now and happy. If you decide to use the Vision eGo you do not need to buy a kit, just some eGo batteries, a charger and the Vision's. Why not buy one of those and let everyone try both systems and decide later.

I know it seems like time is important right now but Relax! Enjoy! The extra time taken now may save time and money in the future.

This is my opinion. You decide for yourself.

Joye is a decent brand and there are many knockoffs of their products. That being said I have no clue whether or not the one being advertised is a knockoff or not. I've never used the cig-a-like models, I started with a joye ego, but I have read many times on this forum that the Volt is one of the best cig-a-like models on the market and are highly recommended. A couple of tips I can give you would be 1) it would be a good idea to get a manual battery, much like the one you currently have (push button to activate), as you can control the duration of the hit and since they are sealed you do not have to worry about juice leaking and killing your battery as much 2) a battery's mah (Milli-amp hours) rating will tell you +/- how long you battery will last. Rule of thumb is for every 100mah you can expect about 1hour of use on a full charge; ie 280mah = 3hr +/-, 650mah = 6.5hrs +/-. I'm sure some one else will chime in as well. I hope this helps and good luck. One more thing I think Liberty Flights is also well respected vendor and they are also in the UK. BTW welcome and it is good to see you are already starting to save some lives. Congrats.

Take a look at this site.
E-Cig-Reviews.com - Electronic cigarette and E-Liquid video reviews, tutorials, user guides and discount codes
Scott is one of your mates. He's one of the most respected reviewers out there.
He primarily deals with UK vendors and has many discount codes.

Thanks! That's bookmarked, seems like a handy resource.

Yup, it's almost certainly not a Joye product but with that being said the build quality seems good. There is absolutely nothing so far that leaves me displeased with it except the battery life, which I knew wasnt going to be superb before I purchased it. Guess I'll have to give it a few days and see how it holds up.

Absolutely! The possibility to upgrade at a later time was a big reason behind selecting the 510. Your theory regarding them previously selling Joye products does hold water. It's not mentioned anywhere in the description and they probably assumed nobody would look at the URL, it's only because I work in SEO (website stuff) that i noticed it. If they were to change that url they would get penalized by Google and drop in rankings for that page, which would lose them revenue.

I just want to make it clear that I'm not questioning the vendors ethics at all, I'm sure it's an oversight or a quick fix that never got given a long term solution but I'll let them know how to fix it without a penalty from Google next time I place an order so others dont get the same momentary stomach churning feeling I got when I realised the unit wasnt branded.

Excellent tips. Thank you. I'll be sure to check out Liberty Flights to see what they have on offer.

Start looking at the capacity of the batteries you buy. It is measured in mah (milliamp hours) I don't recommend anything under 600mah.

Given DCB's comments regarding battery life I can see how that would make sense. I havent seen a 600mah battery for a 510 so i may need to look at a different model entirely if it's going to be a big deal for them. I guess I need to have a chat with them all individually and see what their usage patterns will be like. I'm fine with short battery life because I am constantly within 10 meters of a USB port (IT based profession) but these guys arent. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks everyone for your responses, I really wasnt expecting such a large response so quickly. You've all been very helpful.

Be sure to get at least 2 of everthing, even 3/4 is better. Nothing worse that to find your batteries are dead, a usb pass through is even a good idea to have on hand. Have fun

This I have already acted on. I have seen this stated all over the forum and ordered a bunch of (6!!) 510 batteries and when my delivery arrives (hopefully tomorrow) I'll have cartomizers coming out my ears! A few of my friends have been put off by the expense of getting started but anyone with half a braincell would see this stuff as a sound investment. Yes, I did just call my friends idiots.

I too am pretty new to this but I decided to start with the ego-c and am glad that I did. the batteries I got make it through a whole day and they have allowed me to try a few other 510 style cartos and tanks that I dont think would have worked on smaller batteries. all in all I would recommend you start with a 600 mah or higher battery so as not to wind up out of power and in need of a puff.

Ah-ha! Ego-c! I'll check it out. As I said, not an issue for me but for my relatives and girlfriend it could be a huge cause for concern so your recommendation is greatly appreciated, sir.
