Oh, okay. I was taking the top wick out just because a guy in a YouTube video did that. He also cleaned up the black stain on that wick with a small blow torch-like lighter. (I didn't do that part.) "Organic" cotton? Would the cotton in a medicine bottle be organic? I don't think I could build a "neat" wick out of that stuff, though. I'll just leave the old one in, but then it will be hard to see if the coil is glowing.

Edit: I pain-stakingly put all the pieces back in, both times. Seemed to work better the first time I did it, than the second.

the way you're doing it (without supplies)

remove base/coil, rinse off in hot water
with coil in base, remove chimney stem/silicone cup washer
take out the flavor wick
(keeping the flavor wick WET is the trick)

dry burn the coil
when done, a drop of juice on it is helpful
then put wet flavor wick back, chimney stem, silicone cup washer

all that and you didn't even take coil out of the base

next time you order something somewhere
add a few feet of 2mm silica wick to your order
then after dry burn, just add the new piece of silica
;)

yepper, it's the simplest way to maintain bcc's...

always try to do 'preventative maintenance' by trying to predict before
coil goes wonkers on ya, and hot rinse, dry, re-use...

if not then the dry-burn/new flavor wick method is the next choice ;)

eventually working your way up to a full recoil and use cotton

it's not (PG/VG) juice thickness that fouls the coils
it's the sweeteners that does the most damage

sweet, dark juice might ruin a coil in as little as one tank ;
light, less flavor (sweet) a coil has lasted me for weeks...
maintain accordingly

I've twice successfully dry burned bcc's (kanger) after dark juice (chocolate with mint). The flavor wicks are another story.

For iclears, they are real easy to dry burn and clean, but the top condom gets stained (don't know the official name for that part, don't know how many actually clean those, is it more a silicone cap?)

You can clean the coils, the other parts are a little more touchy.
