My ody gets fairly warm from a good chain vaping session however excessive heat can be caused by a short. Call me paranoid but any time I seem to get excessive heat I check for shorts starting from the connector cap bottom 1 lead on the pin 1 lead on the body. If no shorts are found there you are probably ok. If there is a short there I troubleshoot upward. So when I was using an adapter I would next take the ody off with the adapter and check again. If no shorts then I try to see why my ggts connector cap is shorting (never actually had this happen but it could in theory). If I do have a short I work up more. Remove the adapter and check at the ody base. If no shorts there I know I have a bad adapter (has happened to me a few times) If no short then you probably don't have a shorting issue unless it is intermittient or certain mouthpiece positions are causing a short. Shorting can also cause bad hits or bad tasting hits.

As for your dry hit issue assuming it isn't caused by any shorting how open is your juice controll and are you using stock wick?
