How do I avoid this? Having a hard time .... thanks!
Would be nice to know the tank, coil, wattages, juice, etc. Is it drop in coils or are you rebuilding? Most likely not pre saturated enough and possibly starting out with to much power. Need to start lower with power and move up a little slowly. Could also be to thick of a juice or just to much power for coil.

Prime like you would any other replaceable head.
Drip drops in wicking holes on body of head & on wicking material from top until fully saturated.
Then install in base fill tank let sit for a few minutes.
If you just filled tank then zapped it with 44w likely you burned / scorched the wicking material.

Around the inside you see actual cotton. Then mount the coil, reassemble and fill. Let it a while (10 or 15 minutes, I know very conservative). Then start out at a low wattage. I even start out at 10W sometimes. no vapor production, but I am slowly warming the coil and pulling in more juice to the cotton. Keep going up a few watts at a time. When you like the vape, stop.

I once had with I think it was a Tobeco coil, when I took the first draw at low power, there was no vapor, but there was a little dry cottony taste. Let it for another 10 minutes, came back, started there again, this time no off taste, and the coil performed just fine afterwards.

I think we tend to concentrate a lot on getting the cotton wet, and that is important. But IME, breaking in a coil under low power and slowly ramping up has resulted in never having a coil go bad on me and taste burnt in a few days.

The point in priming a head is to saturate the wicking material, so, wherever you see access to the wicking material.

Eskie's point of gradually / gently ' breaking in ' a new / unused head is spot on IMO / IME too.
Look for the bubbles also.

Good news!:thumb:

I like the Super tanks. They perform well, are pretty cheap, and take so many coil from different manufacturers. Even their own coils can by good (I like their 0.3 ohm SS notch coil that works well in TC).

One annoyance to the tank is, particularly the first time, a pain to unscrew. That's why they give you that little hex driver to stuff in the air holes in the bottom to get enough torque. I've learned to simply not crank them down real tight and have had zero problems or leaking.

Thanks Eskie. I got my first Super Tank this last week and I was wondering what the hex driver was for. I haven't had any problems unscrewing mine from my Pico 25. I think it was a little tight when I opened the tank up to give it a bath before first use though. I may have used my rubber pliers. No dry hits here. I am enjoying the simplicity of filling it and using it.
