Hi guys, I am 36 years old, heavy smoker since 18 with failed attemps at the past to quit. The last few days I found out about electronic cigarettes and you can probably imagine how I feel. I am just becoming familiar with the whole thing. At the beginning I thought it would be easy to just order one but with all these suppliers and all these different models available my head still spins. After a quick research, as I was anxious to have one straight away, I ordered the DSE 901 from Liberty Flights. I am still waiting to get it but its only 3 days passed. Before I start my questions I have to apologise for overloading the forum with a new post concerning questions that have already been answered but I honestly did my search here and I have read too much that I don't remember a thing. So:

1. Are there different models of DSE 901? The reason I am asking is mainly because I read posts here for DSE 901 and I am not sure if it is for the one that I have ordered. (DSE 901 mini from Liberty Flights). I tried to read the most recent posts.
At the particular site they don't mention other models of 901 and I wonder if it is a fairly new product or is going around for a few years.

2. E-cigs come with manual or automatic batteries. I don't recall of having that option when I placed my order. I assume that they are automatic. Are they? I would prefer they are although I have read here that manual last longer.

3. When we say that a cartridge lasts for an x amount of vapours does this mean the liquid or the actual plastic component?

4. I had 2 main concerns with e-cigarettes in general. First is the taste and the amount of vapour produced but from what I have read here I am covered as most of the posts are positive for DSE 901. The second one though worries me. That is endurance. The last thing I want to do is recharging the batteries every 2 hours and refilling the cartridge every 10 cigarettes. I have seen a poll here about the length of the batteries but opinions vary and again I am not sure if it is for a previous model or the one I have ordered. Bearing in mind I am a heavyyyyy smoker. So please let me know from your personal experience.

4a Are there other automatic batteries that will fit DSE 901 with longer time limit? If yes do I need other components?

4b Can you suggest other e cigs that are way much better on this area as well as the cartridge (liquid) time limit?

4c I think I've read that you can fill cartridges in order to have them ready but wont the liquid dry out if you leave them for sometime? What happens when you go out, you keep them in a sealed plastic bag inside your pocket?

Sorry for the stupid questions, thanks for your time!!

The "DSE" is indicative of the brand that makes it. In this case, Sailebao .. you can also buy Riva 901s .. perhaps others. The 901 indicates the type of atomizer it has. Battery life is determined by mAh .. so the higher the mAh rating on the batteries you bought, the longer they will last between charges. The mini is a classification of e-cig, there are super-mini, mini, penstyle, ego type, mods.

I do not think Liberty Flights sells a DSE 901, as far as I know, they sell the Riva 901, which comes with larger batteries than the DSE901 but is compatible with all replacement parts labeled 901. If you can post a link to what you bought, I can help you figure out what it is and tell you roughly how long the battery would last.

Whether your ecig comes with manual or auto batteries depends. Again, posting a link to what you bought can help me tell you.
Most people prefer manual batteries, they do seem to last longer. They are also sealed so that if any liquid drips into them from the atomizer or cartomizer, it will not kill them. Automatic batteries are not sealed and a leaking cartomizer can easily kill them.

When they say that the cartridge lasts for x amount, they usually say in terms of cigarettes .. say 200 puffs or one pack. They lie. They do not last as long as they claim, in reality, it depends on how you smoke. They base this figure on 10 puffs per cigarette.

Cartridges come with little plastic end caps that you put back on to keep them fresh and to prevent them from leaking all over your pocket. A lot of people pick up a Altoids tin to keep them in on the go. CArtomizers come with "condoms" to put back on the ends to keep them fresh.

I hope this helps ... again, post the link to the cig you bought and I can give you more specific information.

1. DSE901 has been around a while.

2. It's harder to find manual batteries for DSE901 but you could try a KR808D-1 manual battery from LiteCigUSA.net for $10 - I got one of my KR8 manuals there and it's very nice. You probably should get a KR808D-1 charger cable for it. DSE901 atomizer should screw right on KR808D-1 (yes - I just tried one of my old DSE901 attys on the new KR808D-1 280mah manual battery I got from LiteCigUSA.net)

And I recommend for any ecig user a Rosewill 2amp 4-port USB to AC adapter (I think it is model RUC6181) from NewEgg.com - that can charge any 4 battery USB cables (or 3 cables plus one stubby hard battery to USB adapter in an end slot). I have one at home and one at work, with cables to charge each of the models I use.

3. Cartridges do not last long vape-wise. Physically they last a long time. Buy Eliquid.

4. If you are a heavy smoker and need to charge to often then I recommend once you know if you like the DSE901, then if you do, go to Liberty-Flights and buy a Riva 901 as a backup. Riva 901 is a fat battery version with several times the charge length of a slim battery. If you uy a Riva 901 then definitely buy it at Liberty-Flights - they have the model with the slotted battery post that works with more KR808D-1 cartomizers. Don't buy the LiteCigUSA model which is by a different manufacturer

4a. What are the mah of the batteries you got? If 180mah then buy a manual KR808D-1 280mah battery from LiteCigUSA.net. I do not recommend auto batteries. If you have 280mah batteries then for longer charge look at the Riva 901 at Liberty-Flights.com

4b. KR808D-1 280mah manuals with cartomizers, or fat battery Riva 901 for Liberty-Flights with cartomizers (not atomizer+ cartridge - cartridge holds the least juice)

4c - the cartridges come with hard caps you can put on them. Few uses cartridges very long - cartridges are a pain.

Thank you very much for all the usefull information cleolove and dormouse and the quick reply.

the link for what I bought is: Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - DSE 901

I would still prefer an automatic battery even if it doesn't have such a long life between recharges compared to manual, simply I don't want to push a button every time I want to vape.
The one I bought comes in 3 pieces which means that it doesn't have a cartomizer but rather a cartridge and an atomizer. From what you mention dormouse is that a cartomizer lasts much longer so basically I am probably looking to buy a whole new starter kit. The batteries are 180mah.

Once again thanks for all the info!!!

After a few hours of search on this forum, by the way guys amazing forum all the best, I came across with a possible model that will cover my needs and I think it will be my next purchase on the condition that my recent one won't satisfy me. This is by Hangsen, Echo 1300 mah. I did a research and I think that the only downfall on this model as well as others of the same type is the size of it. It looks like a little rocket haha. But then again we can't have everything. I would prefer to have an echo one and last for a day than a mini one and refill and recharge it maybe twice a day. Can you tell me your opinion about this model and if you are aware of similar ones that might be better? Thank you

Also, even though your kit comes as a 3 piece, you can buy 901/808d cartomizers and use those on the smaller batteries. A Cartomizer is simply an atomizer and cartridge in one unit. I would recommend you do this, as cartomizers do last longer than carts.

The Echo is a great PV, and I think you would enjoy that, like everyone said, keeping your little 901 for backups.

Looking at the LF site, it appears you will be receiving auto batteries. None of the battery images on that 901 page you linked to show a button, anyways. Do not fear; I believe with all my heart that you will be pleasantly surprised. The auto batts do seem to make for a much more natural transition coming fresh from analogs.

That said, I believe you will be immensely pleased with the Echo. The combination and inter-compatibility of these two setups should keep you happily vaping for a long time to come. Also, welcome to the ECF and your new found obsession! :D

LF certainly do the DSE901, it's the first pv I bought and I regretted it. Personally it wasn't enough vapour (could hardly taste a thing) so please do not let that put you off pv's if you find the same.

I hope it does work for you, different strokes and all that, but IF it doesn't then do look at either a Riva or Ego/etc... There's plenty to choose from and as long as you search this forum (ECF) to make sure its not a 'bad' model then you should be fine, I'd also be confident with anything from LF's stock, remember to check your atty's when they come in for any DOA as the warrenty is short, try to circulate your batteries and keep them charged, try as many different juices as you can afford until you find your 'wonder-juice' (it's out there!) and finally... GOOD LUCK!!!

Proud of you :)

EDIT: Sorry I missed the post where you'd said about the Echo, excellent choice so it looks like you are set up and no need to buy any other pv's (unless your feeling rich and like to have a collection) - Don't be afraid of asking questions, I still do! This forum helped me so much when I started out that I feel obliged to try and reciprocate for other newbies, plus I just love the feeling of seeing another new pv user starting on the glorious juicy pv road :)

Hello, once again I'm coming with a few more questions. Before I start I would like to say a big YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
YES. My DSE 901 just arrived this morning and I have been vaping the whole day. It's been years since last time I didn't have a normal smoke for a whole day. A good overall impression with the exception of the battery issue which probably all the minis are facing. This is the reason that I am anxious to purchase the model mentioned above (Hangsen echo E 1300mah). My questions are about this product. I am confused again so please help.

1. I thought that mentioning the name echo e 1300 mah will automatically means Hangsen. Are there other brands that use the name echo?

2. Are there many e cigarette starting kits carrying this name or just one? What I mean is the name echo e one product or the main title for a variety of products?

3. Bearing in mind that I am interested only for AUTOMATIC batteries I have a serious issue finding a supplier. When I first started to read about this product I though it was coming only with automatic batteries but probably not. As I am located in Hellas I searched first for European suppliers. No offense I just HATE to wait. I think you know how it feels. I found just one thanks ofcourse to this forum, but they had only manual batteries. I have just found and contacted 2 US websites and only one of them has the automatic batteries. Can you help on this matter? Are you are aware of any suppliers in Europe or US that can send it here?

Thank you
